The GOT Book Club

Wow...that sounds good. Will check it out.
Do highly recommend it.the author has a lovely, descriptive way of writing.
The top boys knew how to make money.great story in it,something like out of breaking bad, where a young, nerdy, genius chemist met a few of them outside a restaurant by chance and from there went on to make millions from meth.had big, massive super labs knocking it out.
They also bought a bank but i will say no more.brilliant book.;)

Just finished this - Penpal by Dathan Aueberach ( someone recommended it on here - thanks )

Really really creepy book and would make a good film.

A young boy let’s a balloon go with his details attached as part of a school project and the respondent wages a sinister campaign of stalking and worse.

Recommended if you like disturbing stuff that gets under your skin.
That's a simple but great premise for a story. Can Imagine it being made into a dark European film. Whatever happened to having pen pals btw? Having a pen pal was sort of cool, used to swap footy team memorabilia.

Just finished Soji Shimada's bonkers Japanese locked room mystery Murder in the Crooked House
It has a helpful dramatis personae and a map of the house and who occupied each room
I still kept flicking back to both
The book is culturally very interesting and if anybody has read it i would be curious in your opinion of the outcome
Weird , just strange or simply crap. I can't really decide

Anyone read The Call of Wind by Patrick Rothfuss?
Not my Usual kind of book but was recommended to me by a friend and it’s fantastic, just reading the second book of the trilogy The Wise Mans Fear now, it’s excellent.

Just come across this in my local bookshop and decided to give it a go. Looking forward to finding some time to read it - it’s a rare luxury these days.

Oh you poor poor soul, someone should have warned you. Just like GOT, everyone has been waiting forever for the third and final book to appear. Rothfuss has probably angered a larger percentage of his fans than GRR Martin by not finishing the book. I don't think he's even started on it. I will never again start a book series until the last one has been finished.

I'm reading the Hubris, first volume of Ian Kershaw's mammoth 2 part biography of Adolph Hitler
Deals with the years up to 1936

Thanks for the heads up on this, I am about 30% through volume one

all I keep thinking of with all the right wing groups that were present in the 1920's

People's Front of Judea
Judean People's Front
Judean Popular People's Front
Popular People's Front of Judea
etc

I was losing track of them all !

As far as biographies go its a very good read, hope the rest of the book is as good.

Thanks, maybe I’ll save it a while then - I have a stack of others to get through anyway, and I was thinking of reading all my Terry Pratchett again. No time like the present I suppose, while normal life is on hold!
