It's tough going. It's the sequel to 'Dark Knight Returns' which to be fair I thought was poorly illustrated, but upon reading it, was actually a brilliant technique. Miller has illustrated this one himself, and it looks like it's been drawn by a child.

Mrs Scratch is harrassing me to read it. She's on the fifth one now, and had previously read about two books in the eight years I've known her. Neil Gaiman has a new book out and the second book in Pratchett and Baxter's Long Earth series is out. A busy summer's reading lies ahead.

I got some vouchers and used them on a big collection of Lovecraft stories, mainly because Neil Gaiman raves about him but I couldn't really get into it. He has some weird ideas but they're poorly developed and together with a very old fashioned writing style, it wasn't really for me.

You should give them a go mate definitely, i'm about 150 pages in and even though I'm up to date with the series, the books are more in depth and give you a greater understanding. For example, the storyline with the young lad Bran, there's omens of what will happen in the third series which are hinted at in the first 100 pages of the first book. They didn't quite accurately convey that in the series.

Also cheers for the Gaiman heads up, will read that.
 
McBain, I HATE the Dark Knight strikes again! The Dark Knight Returns is one of the best Batman stories ever but they should never be a follow up. I don't belive Miller was involved in Strikes Again but lent his name to boost sales. Try Long Halloween if you haven't alredy for a good Batman story. I've just re-read All Star Superman to get in the mood for the film (can't wait to see it) and I still don't like it as much as Death of Superman.
 

Reading The Da Vinci Code at the minute. Really fantastic read and a real page turner even if you arent into all the religion stuff etc its fantastic. I would highly recommend it.

A story of 3 people looking for a chance in life coming together in the hope of something better.

Touching and thought provoking story. Worth a read.
