That's me there. Great what you can find online...

The thing I recall about that season...
In the programme " the building of the new stand, will commences in January ,with the demolition of the Park end".
I immediately thought "jesus that's the board thinking we'll be out the cup 3rd round and season over.".

People like Graham Stuart and Limpar should be considered Everton legends in their own right. Neither set the world on fire, but their contributions to surviving relegation in 1994 and winning the cup in 1995 are immeasurable.

The same could be said for Ablett, Watson and Southall etc, but if you watch that 1994 game once again you will see Graham Stuart making a goal line clearance immediately before Horne scored and changed the tide of the game. Obviously he had already scored one goal and went on to score the winner as well. That's some contribution and I noticed that he ran off with the match ball in his hand, well deserved.

Limpar and that handball was ridiculous, but he got that absolutely necessary penalty to keep us in the match, and then provided the similar energy and endeavor that saw both Limpar and Stuart excel in the 1995 semi-final and Cup Final. Both made huge contributions in the cup win a year later. I guess Stuart technically got the assist for Rideout's goal, but Limpar properly made that goal with breaking and running against United's defence.
Could probably add Paul Rideout to that list too, at least for the 94-95 season.

I was only about 10 when 94 happened so didn't appreciate how close we came to oblivion but knew it was an important game to stay up, I was there in 98 v Coventry though, that was an experience haha, was one of the many thousands who got on the pitch at the end and took some turf for memorabilia

This game was my mum and dads wedding day, I wasn’t even born but I know so much about it. There was a strong chance my dad wasn’t going to turn up at his own wedding party when it all looked lost and he couldn’t face my mums (red) family. But then Stuart made it 3 and the party was bouncing. Coincidentally I was born nearly 9 months later lol I game I didn’t see, but still means so much for many reasons. UTFT.

First proper year I was right into football as a kid. I don't remember too much about the day other than being close to tears twice. Doesn't bear thinking about if we lost that day. The following season was the beginning of a true love affair.

I really enjoyed watching that. It's the first time I have seen the 90 minutes. I was one of those teletext teenagers on the day. I remember my dad's resigned "that's it," when he heard we were 2 down. Neither of us could believe we got away with it.

Three things occur to me, aside from the usual things I think about where this game is concerned...

1. I love Neville Southall - he's an absolute living legend, the greatest keeper in our history - but wow did he have a bad game. The nerves got to him, big time.

2. David Unsworth was superb. 20 years of age at the time, he wasn't overawed by the ocassion in the slightest.

3. The crowd were fantastic. As soon as we went ahead, there wasn't an ounce of doubt or negativity projected from the terraces onto the pitch. They sung them home.

For our newer members from the otherside of the pond. What a day.

Me and my mate went down the game with our junior Evertonian cards (got you in for a fiver!)
Couldnt get in and didn’t fancy climbing trees so went home to radio and teletext! What a day
