Eminem could rap y'all into next week.

For me, Eminems first album was a combination of taking his opportunity, raw talent, and being at war with himself. But he himself always pitched himself as having two characters, the one that was awful to Christopher Reeves and the one that said what he was really feeling.

Rap God is an amazing track. It's like Slim Shady meets Marshall Mathers.

Fantastic shout

LOL street poetry innit, urban Shakespeare's, I've never seen a genre of music or entertainment pander so much to its own stereotype

regrettably most of the stuff people who arent into hip hop are exposed to is utter gash. Particularly the gangsta stuff. If you scratch the surface there is some amazing soulful deep poetry out there and some fantastic music. Its a shame the stuff on the radio etc.. does it such an injustice and puts people off.

Wu tangs, de la soul, a tribe called quest, snoop dog, ice cube (early 90s only) also can't believe cypress hill haven't been mentioned.
Oh and Jay Z is crap! " yeah, uh, uh huh" repeat ad infinitum

MF DOOM for me.

The main problem with hiphop and rap is consistency whether its being able to produce a full LP which isn't loaded with filler material, or just to be able to produce more than one decent album. Some great hiphop albums for me that are good from start to finish would be Nas - Illmatic, WU Tang - 36 Chambers, Common - Be and MF DOOMs Vaudeville Villian under the name of Viktor Vaughn. That last ones probably my number one.

De La Soul is a great example and one of the best groups. Going since the 80s and maintaining a very high quality level.

Eminem is a complete joke. Very good technically, however his fall from the first two interesting and fresh albums to the complete rubbish thats come afterwards is pretty amazing.

Think we have a winner by default..
