The Illicit Power of Our Overpaid and Underachieving Players

I don't get the blame deflecting to the players time and time again. We have brought in players, consistently, in the summers year in and year out since Moshiri arrived. How are 40+ players from, hopefully now, 7 different managers ALWAYS the issue? Could it not be that the managers are crap at organizing and getting the best out of their players?

Carlo was the best manager we've had since Moyes, ability wise, and he was generally disinterested in training them at just about everything. Benitez was a dinosaur of a manager who invited pressure but then abandoned the defensive structure Carlo had in place. Koeman was just a massive bell who never cared to come here to begin with. Silva was in massively over his head. Fat Sam did what he was asked to do. But it's the 40+ players that are the problem EVERY single time?

I agree Dave wholeheartedly to this thread. But here is a poser why did Rafael play Rondon, Keane and Coleman every minute he could. This to me sums up our demise and absolute debacle we call a club. Hands tied behind our back before we even start a game. Definition of insanity not changing a bloody thing.

Yeah, that’s ultimately what got him fired. Severe error in judgement keeping them in, no two ways about it.

To my thinking, Everton Football Club is the most unprofessional sporting organisation imaginable: spineless, clueless players, executive and Board...They are a parody of a club.
To a point you are right.
We've always had a corinthian ethos - play the game hard but fair. I've always taken pride in this but sometimes I think we are just too fair and easy when we are wronged.
Remember we were one of the few who effectively saved the PL when the shitty Scab 6 tried to break away. A lot of time , effort and energy with little credit to our Board. It all takes a toll.
We have some fantastic and lovely people who work at the club but we don't seem to have a ruthless streak to make us winners.
Whether Benitez goes or not at least he had a go to rattle some cages and at least try to instil a professional environment.
The problem he had was the squad he inherited was so poor and all on huge salaries that no other club would go near - so we have them always unavailable yet drawing serious money and blocking squad places. As unprofessional as we are, success on the pitch generally stands or falls on the quality of the squad and whoever was in charge should never have allowed it to get to this stage. There's over half our squad who are useless and should never play for Everton again.
I think Benitez will now go - and he probably should after that shambles yesterday - but whoever comes in should be allowed room to cull these wasters.

Can't blame a backline on just 1 player. We concede from every single types of attack. If that's all Keane's fault...then what are the others doing?
The Laurel and Hardy defense is surely the best slapstick duo the premier league has seen? You can put Godfrey in place of Mr Hardy and the slapstick is still great!

I agree entirely with your take on Rondon, Keane and Coleman. Keane was playing like the weak link at the beginning of the season when we actually won games. We looked better and picked up points with a covid stricken Godfrey playing rightback ahead of Coleman. Rondon was nowhere near ready to play, we should have given Dobbin a run with Rondon as back up as this did nothing to help his cause with the fans, he could have been a useful bench warmer but its not going to work out now. I don't care about who manages, I just want to see the team on the pitch do their job play for one another and win football matches. You can argue the atmosphere hasn't helped but he ultimately falls on his own sword. He perversely had an opportunity to play younger players during this period of injuries and a slump in form, but he repeatedly stuck with the likes of Delph, Keane, Coleman and Holgate. The penny didn't drop after the Chelsea game due in my opinion to his own bloody mindedness that coupled with falling out with Lucas Digne that certainly wasn't at the heart of all our problems. The last thing the club need is a short termist manager going forward. We need someone who is going to encourage the young players. Get the back 4 working as a unit and putting pride back in the shirt and we as fans have got to get fully behind the team no matter what between now and the end of the season.

He's gone (or soon to be gone) because he was an arrogant, stubborn, narcissist and who's footballing philosophy is 15 years out of date. Plain and simple.

We all know half the players aren't fit to wear the shirt, and the signings over the last 5 years have been bewildering to say the least, but Benitez being sacked is 100% on him

Norwich last six leage games. they were losing an aggregate score of 16-0.
Benitez rolls into town. 2 nil up in less than 20 minutes.
Mike walker with brett angell had a better record.

Unacceptable. Simple as that.

You can’t blame “the players,” as being a consistent problem if the players aren’t consistent.

Everton is riddled with organisational problems that have ultimately lead us to the worst managerial appointment in our history.

Your boy lost, you lost. Admit you were wrong. Take it like a man, grow up and move on.
Dave is right....its a culture that was to some extent created by Koeman.....it was obvious that he didn't care a jot about Everton and spent too much time on the golf course. He's made a good wedge subsequently by picking up millions in compensation from Everton and others. Soif the manager only cared about his money, why should the culture in the dressing room be any different.

See my post about the culture created by Koeman. Ancelloti is now managing Real Madrid...Silva is at Fulham doing well, Martinez manages a top national side, all successful managers. Even Koeman conned himself into a top job in Spain, but didn't last long. I suspect he's now been sussed and won't get another top job. All our managers have done well elsewhere, so the Everton problem is down to the culture in the dressing room, and more simply, the quality of our players.
