The Illicit Power of Our Overpaid and Underachieving Players

Good enough for what though? Higher than 10th? 15th?

They're certainly better than 15th with a relegation form of 1 win in 13. No other manager in the 5 years have hit Raffa levels of ineptitude.

You can throw around "not good enough" but they are capable of playing as a team and a unit. Just not under this manager due to the fact this manager is done at this level.

If the player can't do what the manager what's him to do...then you either sell, drop, or change to help him. Raffa did nothing.

I agree which is why he’s being fired. They’re good enough for the bottom half. I said this was somewhere between the 11yh-13th best squad in the league. They’ve under performed no doubt but that’s what they’re all about, that’s how they’d as off Koeman and Silva before this, that’s what was happening under Ancelotti towards the end. Of course they’re better than the form they’ve shown but they show that form because they’ve got a terrible mentality and can switch relegation form on whenever it suits them to get a manager gone.

There’ll be an up kick in form for the rest of the season now. I’m absolutely certain of it. Some players will look completely unrecognisable. I’ll put my money on Gomes and Keane looking like transformed players. The new manager will be all on board with what a great group of lads they are. Then in the summer with the purse strings tight there’ll be the same old discussions ‘Coleman will be ok for another season won’t he?’ ‘Keane seems to have turned around his form, he’ll be alright if Mina can stay fit’ ‘We don’t need another midfielder because Gomes has been rehabilitated’ ‘maybe the manager can also revitalise Iwobi’. Fundamental change won’t take place.

Then next season, there’ll be a few injuries, and these players will have that same manager under the bus again because he’ll have started to realise that they’re the type of characters who won’t keep playing well, who slack off, who couldn’t give one about the club, and they’ll realise he might look to move them out, so they’ll get him out first.

I said all along that whilst I couldn’t have cared less about the identity of the manager he had to survive these players at the club. Well one has gone. I means seriously how the hell have we rifled through Koeman Allardyce Silva Ancelotti Benitez yet Davies Coleman Keane Iwobi are still playing first team football for Everton. It’s embarrassing and this sacking (although now a necessity) has just prolonged their stay even more .

Problem I have with this squad is Richarlison and Mina aside I see no fire in the players bellys.

You see DCL dressing up as a school girl - is this lad got the grit needed to drag a club like ours from midtable to the european places or a cup final?

Have players like Gomes, Davies, Holgate, Keane, Coleman got anything about them?

Recruitment has failed us for years - a far cry away from when we had squads with the likes of Lukaku, Gana, Stones, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Cahill, Pienaar, Arteta, Fellaini in it.

He hasn't at all.

We all know a very small % didn't give him a chance.

We all know that the noise on social media isn't a true reflection of who actually turns up at Goodison.

He lost his job because he's done a horrendous job.

His decisions didn't warrant giving him more time.

You know @davek , For a guy that loves to mock conspiracy theorists, I'd say you were the David Icke of Evertonians.
lol lol lol lol lol

Make no mistake - whatever your view on Benitez - this will be another casualty brought about by the dressing room at this club. Another group of players have downed tools and seen off another manager by the looks of it.

An attempt has been made to pull power away from the dressing room and toward the manager and they have reacted by handing in terrible performances.

It will happen again and again and again. It's the reason why this club will continue to go nowhere fast. We are utterly cursed by a culture of 'dont give a flying one as long as I'm paid'. The coaching staff beyond Benitez should be booted down the road. They've been there for years and have allowed this lack of professionalism to persist and probably encouraged it.

And so here we are: another managerial search (lost count of them) in the 6 years Moshiri has been here.

The biggest enemy this club has got and will continue to have are the frauds running around in blue jerseys on the pitch.
I love you d my man like no other.

They're better than the bottom half. We finished 12th a season ago with a change in manager mid season and that was the worst it got. The previous times have been 7th, 8th, 10th. It's a top 10 squad in the hands of a competent manager.

Benitez isn't a competent manager anymore.

It needs a overhaul in areas of course. But the inability to get a tune out of the players is the managers fault.

I don’t think they are. The quality of players has declined and the ones that have stayed are getting worse and worse.

The 7th under Koeman we had Lukaku Barkley Gueye

Even under Silva we still had Gueye and then Zouma

These players have all gone and the only real replacement for any of them is DCL for Lukaku (and as much as I like DCL he’s not as good as Lukaku was then)

To add to this Coleman continues to fall off a cliff, Keane has got worse, Davies has got much worse, Gomes has got worse, arguably even Richarlison who is still pretty good is not the player he was in Silva’s first season.

The squad has declined. Apart from Richarlison we’ve not really added anyone since the sales of Stones Lukaku Barkley Gueye who can play at that level (and at the time fans weren’t really happy with their form either although on hindsight now it would be considered amazing) We’ve developed DCL up pretty close, and sometimes Doucoure has a decent day but that’s it.

I think in the past we’ve always had a few good players who could drag us up out of a mess to get top half. We kind of knew if you got Jags Baines Coleman sorted at the back, Gueye in holding mid, a decent striker upfront we’d probably do ok. Even Allardyce managed that. Now I just don’t see these solutions in the squad.

I see one premier league standard centre back in Mina. I can’t see a competent full abck (this doesn’t include Mykolenko and Patterson which is too early to judge)

I can’t see a holding midfielder in the squad. I can’t see a creative midfielder in the squad.

Basically we’ve got an ok keeper, some decent wingers, and two strikers. It’s not enough for top half, nowhere close. We have to rebuild again in the summer.

Maybe the case

But they're still better than what Raffa had dished up.

To my thinking, Everton Football Club is the most unprofessional sporting organisation imaginable: spineless, clueless players, executive and Board...They are a parody of a club.
