The L.C.A.B. / THT Transfer Window Thread ....

G'day peeps. A real must-win for us today if we want to make something of this season. Last few weeks there have been more draws than anything else in the prem (including us!), so we are still in there shouting. An absolute must-win. Come on!!

Just a few thoughts on the finances - usual torrent of Kenwright bashing on all forums, and I'm as hacked off as anyone on lack of external investment, but the price of this is usually a degree of ownership. Looking internally, Kenwright simply isn't rich enough in Football Club Owner terms to stump up anything that could make a difference; Earle may be but is not a football person, or at least not an EFC person, and so has no incentive (just helping out his luvvie mate, mwah);

Step forward Lord Grantchester, our 'true blue' of Littlewoods fortune fame, flying serenely beneath the radar on his considerable legacy shareholding. Wherefore art thou...? Sir John must be turning in his grave at the current state of affairs.

I think I've got to the stage now where i don't think we will sign anyone for any decent amount of money again until we sell some players that none of us want to sell, which means even when it does happen, the usual "we've signed someone" buzz will be replaced with a "don't care, it's too little too late" feeling of dread, especially when the the players we do sign will be known by no-one bar the inevitable youtube clip, and Moyes will bed them into side for 2 years before giving them a fair crack, and everyone will have lost faith, except a few dellusionally optimistic fans like myself, that will fight his corner and tell everyone he will come good eventually...

Anyone know if Bily's playing today?

Kever, talk about hitting the nail on the head. Unless we sell Heitinga/Rodwell for really big bucks then it is unlikely that we will be able to progress into a top 4 team.

People have said on this thread that Dzeko and Hazard we're available for £25mil, yet we could probably sell Rodwell to City/Chelsea for that amount. Surely in the long term we have to take a risk and sell a quality player if Moyes has identified 2 quality players he can get in. It might not look immediately great but it would certainly work in the long run.

even if we could sell rodwell for £25m I doubt moyes would get £10m of it

The board are generally good in the sense that whatever money Moyes gets from transfers he gets to spend, so I suspect that would continue to be the case here. If he didn't get it all he'd walk, anyone would. They don't provide him with money so when he makes it they don't let him have it? He'd be off quicker than **** off a shovel.

I think Stoke agreed £6million...so selling a Heitinga or Yobo should cover if we bought him.

Yeah they did but he failed a medical but according to Ba on SSN its only a niggle and nothing serious or something that will keep him out long so Stoke tried for a loan deal but Hoffenheim are only interested in a permenant deal.

And according to Moyes we inquired about Mbokani and was willing to pay his wages the lot but he doesnt think we'd of had a chance to sign him cos he thinks he'll have better offers on the table (even though Mbokani said we was a serious possibilty the other week) and that Monaco want rid on a permenant deal, nothing mentioned about a failed work permit application.

And i wonder why we didnt try and strike a deal with Spurs to take Kranjcar on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer when they signed Pienaar from us, he's told Redknapp he wants to move to get regular games and in his favoured position from the left as he doesnt like filling in on the right for Tottenham so he would of been a good fit for us with Pienaar gone.

And todays team is the same as last weeks but with Jags and Saha on the bench. Bit disappointed Bily hasnt been given a game, it would of been a good game to put him in IMO but nevermind, he'll get some minutes and i hope Gueye does aswell, be nice to see him given a chance in the prem.

Also heard off a few people today that Owen is on his way here. Loan to the end of season with a view to a permanent.
