I just wish we'd sign someone now. ANYONE. We need a new face.

Signing someone for the sake of it just isn't worth it in my opinion. Not with Moyes as manager. I don't think he is great with people in general, and certainly not with new signings, and even more certainly not with skilful/flair players.

I would sooner Moyes just somehow forgot that he knows everyone currently contracted to the club, and then gets to know them all again from scratch, no preconceived ideas, no grudges. The guy is too stubborn and stuck in his ways. He holds grudges like a teenage girl and prefers "experience" over ability... and not just any "experience", it's the "played consistently for Everton experience" that HE is solely responsible for dishing out.

Additionally, I think he needs to re-think his approach to the opportunities he offers to players, be more adventurous like he was when he first arrived. Granted, he's been stung a few times in games (I genuinely think that Micah Richards equaliser in injury time a few years ago had a far greater impact on Everton than we will ever know) but for all the times that has happened, we have mugged as many teams during his tenure... Andy Johnson in the snow against Aresnal comes to mind, not that I'm upset about those occurrences. But all the caution has a huge impact on Moyes team selections, and in particular, youth.

All the talk that Moyes gives youth a chance at Everton is pretty much a myth, except when circumstances out of his control have conspired to make it happen. Certain people with promise have been shown the door without anything like a fair crack of the whip, and with some of the ****e we've seen over this period, it leaves you thinking "what if"? And before people say "what has X done since they where released?" as some sort of justification, I think everyone who posts here is intelligent enough to realise that it's not just ability, but circumstances, timing, and being given an opportunity to show ability, that makes a player. For example, Ryan Giggs... I don't for one minute believe that he would have flourished as a player if he was, all ability, potential and physique being equal to how he WAS back then, if he was now a young player at Everton. Moyes would sooner play Osman, just to be sure...

The same can be applied with other players who join from teams or leagues that Moyes considers inferior to Everton. Baines, Lescott, Jagielka, Beckford, McFadden, Bily, Gueye... I'm sure there are more if I really have a think about it long enough. All of these players join an extensive list of players coming through our own ranks who have been ignored, or in the case of most of the signings, been used sparingly, harshly dropped, or more crucially, dragged off at embarrassingly early times during games, played out of position to acclimatise them in positions where they won't "hurt" the team... All of them professional footballers, whose job is to play football... treated like children, and hardly instilled with the confidence of the man who they work for, and whom he has personally identified, tracked, signed. What would YOUR confidence be like?

On the other hand, if you have played for a team that Moyes considers to be superior to Everton, you have a place for life... Neville, Saha, Howard... Moyes LOVES Uniteds history, so the very fact that these players have played in the famous Red and Black means they MUST be better than anything on offer at Everton, regardless of how poor the performance, ridiculous or costly the mistake, and no matter how frequently it occurs. I remember reading that Moyes decided that Steve Simonsen would be out of Everton when he conceded a long range goal at Stamford Bridge. Tim Howard concedes long range goals ALL THE TIME, and ones he should not only be able to save, but in most cases, catch. Don't get me wrong, I love Tim, and I’m not suggesting Simonsen is, was or ever would be as good on the whole, but it's more the principle of Moyes affording MUCH more room for error to some rather than others.

Another example would be 1 that has pissed me off for years. Transfer Deadline day 2003, I hear on the radio on the way in to work that we are on the verge of signing a young Motherwell forward called James McFadden. I was excited, I’d seen a couple of his goals, a volley against Rangers in the cup especially catching the eye. He's gonna haveta sort the Red Hair out though...

Later that same day, just before the deadline, a Red ****e colleague is laughing and tells me we've just signed Kevin Kilbane. I was gutted. That's all I'm gonna say.

Anyway, a bit later, and Kilbane comes into the side. Looks average, not impressed. He works hard though, so Moyes loves him. No sign of McFadden yet, until the last 5 mins of a game, away against Boro. 1st thing he does when he comes on is collect the ball, couple of step overs, and away from defender. More than Kilbane has shown in all the times I've seen him, before and inclusive of Everton appearances. THAT is what we need, and what we all want to see. A player with genuine ability who makes you sit on the edge of your seat. Anyway, next game, Stockport in the cup, midweek. McFadden tore them to absolute Shreds. Rooney came on, looked pissed off that he was being upstaged, and he truly was. On to Leeds, again, McFadden was ruthless, relentless. Everyone must've been thinking at that time, ****, we've got Rooney, we've got McFadden... teams are gonna **** themselves playing us.

Next game, Tottenham away... McFadden has a quiet, disappointing 1st half. Moyes takes him off at half time, Kilbane gets his place back, McFadden barely sees the team again in over a year. To be fair to KK a bit, he didn't do too bad that season overall. A certain goal against Fulham was quality. But WHEN he did stink the place out, and it was a fair number of times over the next 2 and a bit seasons (I remember well hiss frequent "there's a player in front of me, I can either try and beat him or… MAYBE I can just kick it AT HIM instead" tactic) Moyes never returned the favour to McFadden. Maybe the odd 10 mins, but never in the starting 11, unless injury, suspension dictated otherwise.

McFadden never really ended up being what we all though he could be, and I blame Moyes for that, restricting him, checking his confidence at all turns, and as a player, he didn't thrive the way he could have. And it's all because he WASN'T the SAFE option. Bily is being treated EXACTLY the same way now, and Osman is his Kilbane. Killer & Ossie work hard, great lads in the dressing room, etc... Not to say the Jimmy and Bily weren't/aren't, just maybe a bit quieter. And on the pitch, they are truly confidence players who thrive on being wanted and adored. And when these players watch the games and wonder why it's OK for some players to make the mistakes they make and remain in the side, whilst they themselves are constantly looking over their shoulders for the hook when they misplace a pass, or shoot when they could've crossed, it's little wonder they don't shine when given their so called "opportunities".

If we sign anyone, I am just worried the same would happen again... Unless we sign Van Persie, or Rooney, or Messi....

Any chance of any of them LCAB?

Hold on here - LCAB IS in the know, more than you will ever know.

And look, McFadden was no demi-god. The lad almost always made the wrong decisions. Shoot when he should pass, pass when he should shoot, etc etc etc, we bought at £1m, sold at £5m, what has he done since?

Fair enough and its good to get inside info ....but I'm sick of the coded, obscure, cliquish style. Remember this is a forum for all Evertonians ....not just insiders!
