There is one thing Moyes is not and that is a panic buyer. He deliberates and considers- sometimes far too long in some people eyes. If he doesn't believe the players good enough, even to sit on the bench for 3 months its highly unlikely he'd sanction such a signing.
I never said he was a panic buyer, and unfortunately we can't currently use Moyes and Buyer in the same sentence. I said it smacks, or could look like panic loans when it gets done on the last day. Which image wise is a sad.

FinchFarmBlue: So how come I have now got a little red box saying 'closet red'? Unjust in the extreme and more than insulting, but there you go.
Circumstances have caused him to panic buy/loan a couple of times though. Castillo, Jacobsen, that deadline day years ago when he gor four players in (Jeffers, Kilbane, forget the other two). Also, as brilliantly as it worked out, and I'm fully aware we'd been watching him for a while, I reckon the way we threw £15m at Standard qualifies Fellaini as a panic buy.
Only the best panic buy ever though.
Moyes even said himself that though we'd been scouting him for a while it was only his performances against Liverpool - a week before the deal went through - that convinced us to move for him. We'd been chasing Moutinho all summer if you remember. No chance - absolutely no chance was Fellaini a "panic buy". Do you know how many teams were keeping tabs on him?
A strategically, perfectly carried out signing. We sounded out his valuation early - and swooped when there was no time for a bidding war.
When does the summer transfer window open?
I bet we sign loads this summer.
O'Hara is joining Wolves

You're giving them way too much credit to say we swooped when there was no time for a bidding war. We panicked having missed out on all our other targets and having to play a midfield pair of Jagielka and a 17 year old Rodwell on the opening day, so threw money at Standard for 20 year old. I'm among the biggest fans of both Moyes and Fellaini, but that's a panic buy in my book.
Chelsea admitting interest;Marouane Fellaini was watched by 32 scouts at that fixture. The young defensive Belgian U/21 player has a growing reputation in Belgium and throughout Europe. Many are surprised that a move to a bigger European club hasn’t materialised this Summer
Real Madrid;Meanwhile, midfielder Marouane Fellaini has ruled out a move to Old Trafford by signing a new contract with Standard Liege.
According to Roger Henrotay, the Belgian Under 21 star's agent, Fellaini snubbed a possible move to England because of his desire for first-team football.
"United phoned us yet again urging Marouane not to sign for Standard," Henrotay told the News of The World.
"But we did not obey them.
"The lad is young and he will get better still, but only if he plays first-team football.
"He'd have earned a lot more money had he gone to Old Trafford but he wouldn't have played."
Tottenham & Man CityStandard Liege midfielder Marouane Fellaini is interesting Real Madrid.
El Mundo Deportivo says Real sports chief Pedja Mijatovic sees Fellaini as an affordable alternative to Liverpool's Xabi Alonso as he seeks to boost their midfield options for next season.
Bayern Munich"We had heard of the interest of Real Madrid and United but I didn’t want my son to leave the country so young," Fellaini's father Abdullah Tef is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"Last summer Tottenham were very interested and Manchester City too. In the end, though, he went to Everton. I have spoken to David Moyes, who’s a charming man.
In view of next season, Bayern Munich is following the Belgian midfielder of Standard Liege, Marouane Fellaini (20).
Currently vice-chairman of Standard Liege, d’Onofrio has invested many millions of euros in the Belgian club and the transfer of Fellaini must have brought him great satisfaction.
It came at a cost, however, as the club has undermined its championship credentials by releasing a young player who was the team’s engine when it won its first Belgian championship for 25 years.
Among the plethora of scouts that found their way to Liege, there have been a number of major clubs, including Monaco, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal, Seville, Spurs and Manchester United.
Everton had put in a bid for him last March, but that was firmly rejected.
However, when Everton upped the ante to £15 million, there was only going to be one answer from d’Onofrio, as that sum was equal to 80% of the club’s annual budget.
England
After rejected advances from Manchester United[3] and following reported interest from Aston Villa,[4] Real Madrid, Tottenham and Bayern Munich,[5] Fellaini signed for Everton in September 2008
Will we ever get to see another big money signing? I'm wondering if Bily's the last we'll see for a while.
I was with you until that bit. Beattie made Bent look dynamic and an absolute steal.
In fact, I still don't see how Beattie was part of Moyes' grand plan.
