Exactly.

Don't get me wrong, I like Carroll, but he's worth around £12-14m tops in a normal market. Panic buying and the "English" factor have boomed his price up ridiculously high.

I'd have Torres over Suarez AND Carroll anyday, yet Liverpool will have spent considerably more on both than they get for Torres.

Made up here!

They've overpaid by £20M ... PLUS , Adam ; £14M ???!!!

Big dough , POORLY SPENT ,. BUT NEVERTHELESS SPENT ...

There's a lesson in there somewhere , like ......

Carry on ,....

Fair point mate. But he is about 6 year older than him, gets them UEFA brownie points (homegrown) and has therefore potential (21 or 22?)

Fellaini has double the potential and cost us £15m.

They've badly overpaid for a decent striker and lost a world class striker. End of story really.

£35m for an England striker who will get 20 goals easy for them, and getting £50m for a sulky crocker striker, it's Chelsea who have been had here.

What makes you say he will score 20 goals for them? He scored 11 i think in the championship last year and he's nowhere near the top of the Prem scorers even with a hat-trick and a couple of braces. Hardly prolific.

I like Carroll too. But I'm astonished as to why a club that was only a couple of months ago 24 hours away from going out of business, is spending £35m on a 'decent' but unproven premisership striker and £23m on a world-cup hyped decent striker fromt he dutch league...

Have they learnt no lessons? More importantly, are the investors not ever wanting to see a return on their cash??

Interestingly, his Newcastle team-mate and babysitter Kevin Nolan has only one fewer league goals than Carroll this season. I wonder how much he's worth?!

Mate. THEY.... never learn.

They've spunked all the Torres fee in one day.

You couldn't make it up.

So I suppose the Connor Sammon speculation amounted to nought then?

Ah well I'll feel better when we beat Arsenal tomorrow.
