I dunno about the maintenance loan sorry, mate. As I stayed in Liverpool for uni I opted not to get a maintenance loan, but if the payment time is the same as the maintenance grant... then it should be a few days after your uni confirms your attendance when you properly start.

As for your 250 quid fiasco, perhaps you may have to dive into your overdraft. Firstly make sure you get your account changed to a student account (if you haven't already done so), it depends on your bank but typically there's no interest to pay as long as you don't overdraft past a certain amount (like 1 or 2 grand). And then when the glorious uni money comes in you'll have it paid off and be sound. But I'd stress you check all this with your bank first.

Mate, I blew 2 discs in my back and they pressed on my sciatica and I know what you're going through, I'm sorry. Get to a doctor asap. If you have to, go to the emergency room. I did and they gave me some fantastic drugs that helped until I could have a procedure done (cortisone shots).
 
...lots upset at the moment, just said goodbye to little Eggs who is departing to take up a 2 year teaching contract in Dubai. Missing him already. He's joined Dubai Everton supporters club and is going to a pub called the Stables to watch the game tomorrow. If any of you guys live out there can you let me know.
