The Music of GOT

I've noticed that going back to older tunes for inspiration has been popular recently, so I thought "When in Rome..."
Coincidentally 'When in Rome' was the working title for this tune for most of the production process!

I decided to go for that late 90's UK based uplifting sound made popular by the likes of Darren Tate, Matt Darey & Rob Searle.

Let me tell you, I had an absolute blast making this track!
It gave me an excuse to dive into my collection of 90's era legacy sample packs for some of the sounds.
The 909 drums are from the 'Goldbaby Tape808 & Tape909' pack, which is a selection of 909 & 808 samples fed through various hardware tape saturators.
There's also some loops from the 'Ueberschall Houseworx' pack and some effects and various samples from some of the 'Zero G Datafile' series.

Most of the synth work was made with Adam Szabo's 'JP6K' VST, which is an emulation of the Roland JP8000/8080 synths popular during that era of
trance production.

I went as far as adding some light DAT Tape hiss in the background to give that authentic era sound.
I was also tempted to add vinyl crackle and lower the bitrate to 128kbps to give that authentic 'downloaded from Napster' feel, but decided that was taking it all bit too far! lol

Anyway, this is just a bit of fun from me and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed producing the track.

Just uploaded a more modern sounding version:

Finally got round to getting gigs sorted, although I've needed to do a live video for some places (which is hard to do when you've only done 2 shows) so I did one in rehearsal space.

Let me know what you think, enjoy!

Superb that, bet it sounds fantastic when your right in the middle of it performing ;)
I'm in the middle thrashing a bass clarinet. You can't hear much in there other than the trumpets right behind my head, so I have plugs in a lot of the time anyway. I'm just focused on my mates on the tuba making sure we're somewhere close to the same pitch. I can hear it on the Youtube just like you.

It feels good in there, though.

I went to watch a string orchestra a couple of years back and I was right on the front row. It was only in the local church but it was absolutely amazing. The sound was absolutely fantastic, very powerful and very moving.

It'll be on my list of things to do though to go and listen to a full horn section at full pelt, good idea about the plugs as well ;)

This is a track I made about 6-8 months ago for my artist mix and it's been sitting around my computer ever since.

So in case you haven't guessed, this sample the track 'The Best is Yet to Come' by 'Aoife Fhearraigh' which was used in the 'Metal Gear Solid' OST, hence the track title

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this which was posted on another thread by @tommye.
Not sure that this lad posts on here, but he's certainly talented and I thought it was worth sharing here.
It's brilliant.
So talented switching between so many instruments.
Makes me wish I'd paid more attention in music instead of spending all my time tryna look up Joanne K's skirt. Ffs
