I agree with both of these statements. Reality is that the mods would never have been able to stay ahead of the toxicity with the ban hammer, no matter how many people they drafted into their ranks. It's just the state of politics across the globe these days.

I would say that the entire history of the Internet suggests that anonymity, interacted with free or low-paid labor tasked with keeping things in line, are hard on our ability to have nice things. We can have them for a while, but eventually the wrong people show up in force, and enforcement capacity just isn't there.

It did seem a bit weird that a load of new forum members decided to post in there around the same time despite not really posting anything in the Everton forum, all with extremist views. Maybe the CA forum could be opened again, but only for posters with over 10m rating?
