Thank you and the mods for dealing with the headaches and craziness in the CA forum. It's not easy doing that job, even if lightly moderated. Your decisions about what is misinformation, who is genuinely a bad apple versus a wum/troll, and attempting to deal with reported posts and other issues, cannot have been easy and probably produced a bit more stress than people realize.

Thanks, though admittedly my moderation was mainly just reminding other moderators to not moderate it. We're not arbiters of truth/you make a rod for your own back when you try and moderate current affairs. Not to mention the precedent it sets for the cry arsers who demand an echo chamber.

The only moderation in that forum should have been to forum ban/remove those who aren't suitable for it (they lose their rag and I'd hate for Current Affairs to cause a good blue to no longer be able to post on Grand Old Team), or for really extreme stuff that warrants a permanent ban.

Couldn't agree more with this, no idea what the second part of your post was.

I got a lot of genuinely useful insight from the CA, GOT is the only social media I have, but if the last couple of weeks of the CA is indicative of the wider internet then we are truly heading to a dangerous place.

To the mods and everyone who keeps this site going, thank you for everything you do.

That bold bit there mate, is exactly why I've closed it for the foreseeable.

We bucked the trend for years, I rate this community more than most but it even surprised me. The last 3-4 weeks though - it become no different to any other platform.

It needed a pause. It become a stain on the forum the past month, a bit of rot has started to set in - from all sides.

Can't put my finger on why - not sure if the way the world has become has finally caught up with us, or whether it's because there's no Everton and we've been a bit unlucky with a cycle of users using it...
