Yeah, it's kind of like the 'Participation Trophy' they give to special needs kids at school just for showing up, so they don't feel left out.

I'll still take it, though. It's been so long since we've had anything in our trophy cabinet.

Obviously it's the least prestigious of the European trophies, and even though I'm not a fan of the format(s) and seeding of UEFA competitions, it has as much validity as a competition as the other two have. It's not like the old club world cup, or the super cup, or the charity shield. You have to put a shift in to be successful. It can also get you in the Europa if you win it, and you get CL for winning that.

If we ever did win it, we'd be headed in a much better direction than we are now. So absolutely, I'd take it.

Mourinho hasn’t been a “trophy magnet” for over a decade at this point. He couldn’t win anything with Spurs so what makes you think he could win something here? Don’t know what him hating Liverpool has to do with anything either. It is far more likely he’d be sacked after 18 months than it is Thomas Frank would be.

I believe that Spurs are the only club that he has failed to win a trophy with. I bet you he wins something with Fenerbache this season. He remains a trophy magnet imo.

Even if he didn’t get us a trophy, I believe he’d have us right up the league and qualifying for Europe. There'd be no 10th placed finishes imo.

There’s only a couple (if that) of bottom half clubs that could feasibly afford Mourinho. I think we will be one of them following TFG’s takeover.

Think they’ve only been to three domestic cup finals since their last trophy in 08. One was the year after, then 14/15 when they lost to Mourinho’s Chelsea, then the one Mourinho took them to himself.
