Ah thought that was Brighton, that did it through a company he owns. Could be both mind

Yeah Brentford are very similar to Brighton in how they use data (though not in footballing style of course), their owner is a lifelong fan who made stats models to make money off of sports gambling and that. I think Brighton's owner has a similar story.

At the risk of sounding like the biggest ming on GrandOldTeam, I'd recommend people read The Expected Goals Philosophy by James Tippett. It's not a particularly well-written book but it's short and sweet and really goes into the logic behind xG, and how it was basically started by the betting companies. Brentford and their owner have a fair bit on them in the book. The maddest thing is that at the time of the book's release, 2019, Frank is their manager, mad he's been there that long.

Could someone just remind me of all those clubs that he has left in ruin?

I swear some blues are attached to our failure; you’d literally choose Thomas Frank or reappoint Marco Silva over a trophy magnet kopite hater like Mourinho.

Frank or Silva wouldn’t be long term options either. At best, they’d have us in mid-table, and they’d more likely be sacked long before their contract is due to end.
I like the idea of mourinho just worries me if would be a situation of over spending on players like we did with william siggurdson ect looking for a quick inpact and then loosing money if we did look to sell. Instead of trying to build, is a risk silva or frank but is a profile i would like to look at

Mate look at what TFG did with Roma in terms of FFP...They sorted their books out while improving them.

There won't be any overspending with TFG & Thelwell in situ,if anything Thelwell is hyper aware of the issues that surround the club.

He ruined Porto by giving them their best moment in their history

He ruined Chelsea by putting in place the pillars of a squad and a culture that kept winning trophies for the best part of a decade under different managers.

Second time round he put in place Costa Matic Willian Pedro who won the title under him and then more trophies under other managers.

He left Real Madrid Modric Varane Di Maria Ozil Khedira who all went on to do brilliant things there.

United he took to 81 points. Lukaku Matic Pogba Dalot, won europa and league cup with them.

Spurs was a bad spell for him but I don’t think he ruined anything there. They weren’t up to much before he arrived and haven’t done much since.

First European trophy in ages for Roma.

There’s nothing to ruin at Everton. If he came in won something and left us ‘in a state’ a few seasons later then that would still be better than where we are now. The place needs to be shaken up. I’d absolutely love him at the club because whilst some people may think he’s no longer an elite manager, he’s still, after Carlo, probably the best manager we’d have had in the PL. if we can attract better than Mourinho then great but if not then you should go for the best rather than worrying about falling out with people. I’d be more worried if he got here and said ‘everything is great I don’t need to change anything or fall out with anyone). We need to change.

It's a European trophy. I've been supporting Everton my entire life and have never seen us win anything. If we won the conference league it would (by a great distance) be the best moment I've had supporting this club.

We haven’t won the conference league because it’s only existed 3 years. We’d probably have won it in the 00’s under Moyes if it had been a thing.

The players would be made up I'm sure. So much to learn from him, even if just for a couple of seasons. How could you not be excited to work for somebody with such knowledge and experience?

Is he the manager he once was? Obviously not, but you'd still sit up and listen to what he had to say. End of the day, you could have a manager who was once elite, but now isn't. What's the alternative? Appoint a manager who will probably never reach elite level anyway? I know which one I'd rather have. It's not like we're gonna get an elite manager anyway.

Oh I agree everything needs to change at Everton.

We need to build something lasting , sustainable.

Jose has never been interested in putting foundations into a club / team .

It's always been "all about me".

He will demand that we buy ageing , expensive players and not give a toss about Everton when he leaves in 2 years after falling out with owners because they wouldn't pay £25 million for a 40 year old Edin Dzeko.

Yeah, it's kind of like the 'Participation Trophy' they give to special needs kids at school just for showing up, so they don't feel left out.

I'll still take it, though. It's been so long since we've had anything in our trophy cabinet. 🤦‍♂️

Jep, I think Bloom and the Brentford owner were friends before they started a dispute and even worked together.

It's maybe also a chance to make Everton more data-based. Frank certainly has his knowledge there.

Pretty much this but it depends on whether this thought he has of joining a bottom half premier league team also means hes willing to bend on the DOF and him building something over time.

Clearly he wont expect a trophy quickly at a bottom half club so it may be he feels hes done everything and now wants to build something to tick the last box.

If we want a trophy we hire Mourinho.

I dont buy the claims of him "not being the manager he was" he's top notch....just clubs are going different routes now and wanting a different style of 'pretty' football.

However, if we want to go down the route of long term vision with a different type of risk then we should go for Amorim.
