true. It does add a bit of prestige I suppose. He did win the Dutch cup though and has a 48% win rate so far
At least he knows how attacking movement works anyway
Yeah, but of all the managers in all of the world, why is a flavour of the month now top of the bookies' list? I suspect the Dutch Cup carries a lot less weight than his temping at United.

Honestly, anybody associated with that failed club should be going down in people's estimations - not up.

If we're starting again maybe we should get a manager we havent already had.
A manager who walked out on the club then tried to take our best players.
A manager who went on to fail at club after club before winning the intertoto cup at West ham and getting sacked.
Winning that cup will make him more successful than anyone else on our shortlist. Have you not seen the choice we’ve had for the last three managers.

It probably has to do with him being available now too and recently active.
They've gone down for sure but they'll likely be back eventually.
He has a decent managerial record and young and hungry is the new wise old head!

It’s like that scene where the evil voice tells the Ghostbusters to pick the form of their Destructor.

Nobody mention Gareth Southgate or we’re all doomed
That would just be peak Everton. Go from a born loser with the most insufferable personality to a born loser with less personality than a lettuce. It's probably a done deal.

From a risk based perspective Moyes would be a sensible short term choice

He’s got a proven track record of moving bottom half clubs up the league into European qualification even with financial constraints, as evidenced by his time at Everton and United.

He knows the PL, the club, and how to battle in the bottom half so removed the whole Kompany/Martin scenario of a manager playing football a squad can’t execute.

If in two and a half seasons he had us back up challenging for Europe whilst our financial issues continue to be washed through then I’d imagine most would see this as a successful bridging period for another manager to then pick up.

The major problem is some of the fanbase just won’t have anyone who fits a certain profile (old, British, pragmatic, been in PL before, can actually organise a defence), so they’ll be protesting Moyes before he even got through the door.

The downside of any appointment is huge at the moment (e.g relegation) the upside is limited, we’re not crashing the top 4 with this squad regardless of who is manager and the difference between the league positions below is not club defining compared to being relegated.

Therefore unless the Friedkin can attract a superstar name (e.g a Mourinho) who would guarantee results, then I could easily see them making a risk based decision on someone like Moyes for the short term. They’ve got an investment to protect that is still a precarious one until we can improve the squad quality massively.

Give Moyes the Job til the end of the season, with the kicker if he can average 1.33 points from now till then, he gets a contract for the first year at BM. That makes it feel less temporary for him.

If he only averages just over one it will see us safe and we get to choose a new manager to start July 1st and have a preseason to acclimatise. If Moyes gets us mid 40's then he deserves a crack at it and least we'll have seen some wins to see out the last season at Goodison.
