I'm with you on Potter - some fans tarnish Moyes with the kind of 'limited / loser' because he didn't succeed at Man Utd when given the opportunity to step up. Couldn't we say the same of Potter ?

I suppose we have to take risks on less proven managers like T.Frank because it's rare you get an Ancelotti available - and they probaly want funds we don't havel.
I think the opposite
If we were a stable well run financially sound club with a decent squad and a good support network ( ie CEO DOF ,CFO Commercial manager etc) then you could take a risk on a younger progressive manager
However whoever takes over from Dyche is coming into a poop show of epic proportions
No leadership structure , a poor squad with 6/7 out of contract , loans expiring , gaping holes at FB and striker and winger
That’s too much to put on a young manager.
A younger manager should basically be a coach with input into signings to suit his system
This job calls for a wise old head who has contacts and can overhaul the squad quickly.
How many of our current squad would make the first 11 of a team lolling to be 5-9 in the table
Pickford
Tarks
JB
McNeill
Ndiaye
Maybe Tim Lindstrom Gana Garner and possibly Dixon as squad members
One poster was saying we need a slow build of 2 players a year.
That’s ok if you have a decent full squad to start with , we don’t
We need at least 5 starters between Jan and the summer window

That's why I think new blood managerially would work best mate, you appoint ssy a Moyes or dyche type they'll naturally go with proven older players ... Exactly the situation we finally see ourselves coming out of, it's the perfect canvas to bring in a young progressive manager by the summer at the latest

Do you not think it’s a bit much to ask a young manager to sort out a poop show like our squad will be next summer
Lots of players out of contract 40 yr old full back , loans expiring an academy bereft of any emerging talent
It’s a lot to ask
If you have a FIF honing the manager a list of players to choose from then you avoid the risk of signing older trusts workhorses

Alternatively mate, bringing in a new manager and implementing a new system is it not better to have almost a clean slate rather than a hotch potch of 25+ players all gathered under different managers?

It's a clean canvas for a young manager to build a squad that suits his style.

It's the DoF that will sort most of that stuff, its his job Most of the stuff you are describing are not within the managers remit these days. Old school managers like Dyche and Moyes who want control over everything are just of a thing of the past these days. We will go for much more of a training ground coach type under the Friedkins imo.

Hopefully you’re right but trying to integrate 5/6 new players in one go won’t be easy
That’s why I can see JB going next summer purely for FFP reasons to allow us to spend big
City as a Stones replacement would be my bet , most money and we have history with them
Might get a couple of youngsters on loan as part of the deal
They have a young lad called Phil something or other that might get a run of games here 😂

It’s a high risk high reward strategy but it all depends on the manager and the DOF being good at their jobs and also being a bit lucky

I think the new owners (assuming it goes ahead) need to make a statement and try to get a manager who is perhaps knocked back a bit but with star quality i.e someone like Emery before he went to Villa. Knocked back by Arsenal but his quality was there to see and now Villa are reaping the rewards from it. If we can find someone like that (Tuchel?) then we are onto a winner.

Obviously the hard part is convincing them that the 'project' is worth it.
