You must be joking re: Carroll.

More talented? Maybe at full strength, but Seattle was decimated by injuries.
The way Seattle pulled games out of their rear end masked that they played at an 8-8 or 9-7 level all year. They're better than that and if they roll with the same strategy next year they will likely regress to that record or worse if the breaks totally go the other way.

I admire what Carroll does with players and how he seems to get the most out of them, but the way he is strategizing each week is not good. Unleashing Wilson should be plan A and he's instead made it a thing that only happens when down double digits. He's wasting an all time great QB at the moment.

I view it quite differently. I look our roster as a middle of the road team that only achieved what it did this season because of Wilson and Carroll.

Rebuilding on the fly and remaining relevant in the process is very hard to do. Had we remained healthy it's very possible we'd have been the #1 seed...with a bang average roster.

They were also the Rams making a single kick away from missing the playoffs. Russell Wilson on his own is too good for these fine margins to exist with them. They are choosing to play close games and it will catch up eventually.

It's Carroll's modus operandi. Wilson has won the most regular season games (tied with Brady) through his first 8 seasons in NFL history. Clearly something is going right.

Yeah it isn't all bad. But I just feel like Green Bay fans would have been saying similar things about McCarthy cerca 2015. It feels too familiar.

Well again for me we have no business winning 11 games with all of the injuries and a very average roster. We were greater than the sum of our parts because of Wilson, Wagner, and Carroll. Beyond Wilson and Wagner there are no elite players...except that one time in week 10 Clowney owned the Niners but then got injured.

DK might be one someday, Lockett is an above average player, KJ Wright is the Robin to Wagner's Batman. Probably the closest to being elite is Chris Carson. The boy is a beast but he hasn't been able to pass the health test.

Your indictment of Carroll for me is coming at a time when he is coming out of the other end of a difficult rebuild. I think indicting him the season after the Super Bowl loss would make a helluva lot more sense. That roster was still stacked.

Losing HOFer's like Sherm, Earl, and Lynch (might be borderline) and really elite NFL player like Bam Bam Kam (HOFer w/o short career), Baldwin, Avril, Bennett and a couple I am forgetting is hard to survive from, let alone succeed.

I think Wilson and his skill has your lot winning games. Massively underrated QB. Without Wilson Carroll would be losing more. If there is one player that put's a team on his back it's Wilson

With Metcalfe and Lockett shining not to mention that young TE, it gives Wilson's unorthodox play better leverage. The defense does enough to keep them in it to then let Wilson do his thing. Defenses time and time again fail to stay on the receivers and so when Wilson rolls out under pressure his ability to make a play is massively underestimated by LB and DB in the league. Not to mention coaches. The teams you guys struggled against figured this out. Heck the Rams used to figure it out too hence the better record in the last few years. Phillips took us backward in that respect. Not to say the results have been poor but a loss is a loss.

Wade Phillips did the one thing we all believe is that his defenses are run in the old school NFL methods. Way out of touch. Against certain teams including the hawks he continually made mistakes.

Things like playing zonal against Wilson. Then using man whilst ignoring not recognizing the offense. Especially when your running game is not as effective and like you say the team is beat up. Not getting on players backs for letting the WR go. It's not just the Rams. Other teams allow it happen too. Eventually the old school D coaches will be weeded out and retired as the game changes more.

Thing is the niners are now on the up. The Rams will still be thereabouts, some tough decisions but still solid in areas. The Cards will now get better picks and eventually get there. Some of their later games they looked a lot better. It means the odd team out could well be the Seahawks. Good news for the NFC west though.

That NFC west next season should be a cracker.

Mahomes also has an "it" factor like Wilson. He certainly has the tools to get into that conversation.

Mahomes has a way to go, including winning a super bowl and getting to another only to have it ripped from you on a bad play call from the 1, to be in that conversation. But yes, he could get there.

For the last 3 years or so Seattle has been a one man team. Wilson is incredible when down in games and it's just "Russell do something to save us" street ball - Their defense is a far cry from their heyday.

He does not have ‘a way to go’ at all.

He will have as many Super Bowls as Wilson within a month. Ask Andy Reid if he would swap Mahomes for Wilson. He wouldn’t.

a blind man can see his technical skill set is a level above Wilson. That’s no criticism of Wilson bye who is one of the most clutch performers we’ve seen. Apart from when he throws end zone interceptions in Super Bowls.

Mahomes loses to the TItans this week. And if not there, then to the Niners

Not because Mahomes isn't awesome. He is.
