The NFL Thread, 2019

20 years of NFL gambling has taught me that the bet in this super bowl is San Francisco. Physical, run the ball, great pass rush. Getting points against a juggernaut pass-heavy offense that can't stop the run defensively.

However, I gotta admit, Mahomes appears to be perhaps the first guy in a while that is impervious to the usual NFL betting dogma. The Greatest Show on Turf at least had a decent defense and Marshall Faulk. If KC wins the super bowl, it'll come down to the masterclass of Mahomes, bucking the trend.

Whither Derrick Henry?

Possibly, but the stats for the GB game shows technically Rogers pissed all over Garoppolo.

Rogers didn't have the assets Mahomes has. Still, point taken -- if the Niners need Garoppolo to win them a game, they're done. He's still not much more of a game manager at this point. He's no Rogers, Wilson, Mahomes or Jackson at this point, that's for sure.

UK bookies have it as a 1 point spread.

Having bet both teams quite successfully this season I can't call it.

May wait for the coin toss and have a few bob on whoever wins that !

There will be a shedload of weird prop bets available -- over/under on the length of the national anthem being my favourite. Sometimes it gets stretched out to an aria.

Read somewhere that five QBs played for both the Chiefs and Niners. Didn’t believe it at first, but then sure enough there’s DeBerg, Montana, Steve Bono, Grbac, and Alex Smith. Crazy
There's a pretty cool vid on/that discusses this. I think it's this one:

Eli retirement official.
Was very good on his day.

Saw the Lad Vegas Raiders tweet today too.. that ground looks boss.

What actually is Eli Manning is a hard question for me. Was he merely an average/good QB that was great in the playoffs and won 2 super bowls on the merit of his performances? Or was he actually a Hall of Fame player?

I think the fact he won two makes him hall of famer.. Just.

Hall of Pretty Good but will get in to the HOF because he's a Manning and beat the undefeated Pats

I'll refer you to the QBs of Baltimore,Seattle(twice) and Arizona(twice). All in the second half of the season.

Never had a fully fit D unit for any of those games. Once Alexander went off against Arizona, Murray was able to move the ball much more efficiently.

Jimmy G is not in the same class as Mahomes, but as shown in New Orleans, he can put up big time plays with Deebo Samuel, Kittle and Sanders on the receiving corp.

Should be a close game. Just hope the Niners can win it.
