An Irish procession in Liverpool in the 1930s. Any idea when this died out ?

It could be a first holy communion procession, I remember mine in the 60's, and my children's in the 80's, I didn't know they had died out tbh........

I remember in the Seventies when I went to Mass they had a large procession in the surrounding roads IIRC for something about Our Lady of Assumption. Then again, they used to have 8 masses on a Sunday, I believe now they have 3.
 

I went to see The Real Thing last Saturday. They were amazing. Considering I've always been more rock chick than disco diva it was a revelation. Then they said "we've been singing together for 44 years" OMG- how old do I feel?

Crates of empty bottles taken to throw at marchers
Catholics wearing anything green to wind up the orange side

No mate, I reckon that procession is just an RC holy communion procession, which never had any bother. The real trouble used to happen at the Orange Lodge marches, just like in Ireland, where the RC community would respond.....
