The Oldies Thread

So that was you eh. *shakes fist.

In the early 60's me and 100 others took part in the last bid fight between SFX/RC and Collegiate/not RC, at Prince Ruperts Tower. Somebody got seriously stabbed ( I forget on which side)...there's always 1 who spoils it for the rest.
As a result after that, in the run up to the 12th of July, We were all confined to school for a week prior

...my part of the world that, Degsy. Scored many a goal in Shaw St Park. Presume you mean SFX bi-lat on Shaw St. Lots of my pals went there, I went to John Hamilton.

Just got home in time to see Joe Gallagher being taking down a peg or 3, this day is getting better.

I do hope Crolla wins later but I envisage a late stoppage or wide points win for Linares.

Linares cuts up easy which is crolla's only chance in my opinion

SFX in Beaconsfield Road were sworn enemies when I was at Quarry Bank in the sixties....lol

...two fine schools both with a great footy tradition. If I remember rightly QB played at Greenhills.
Indeed they did.....remember watching a certain J Royle playing in the grammar schools cup final at of all places....anfield. He did score......unfortunately De LA Salle scored five!! I was in the first year then...Steve Coppell was 2 years below me - my brother played in the same team as him..happy days

..yes, I remember Joe Royle went there but I didn't know about Coppell. In those days QB or SFX didn't send lads for trials with Liverpool Schoolboys, Brian Labone was similar at Collegiate. QB always had a decent old boys side in the Zingari and quite a few also played cricket for Sefton or Liverpool.
