The Oldies Thread

Always loved the smell of coal tar soap. Banned now because of its alleged carcinogenic properties. Even though you'd have to eat a bar a day to do yourself any harm.
There used to be huge bars of carbolic soap lying around the cold stone floors of the school shower room. Yellow and pink bricks that never seemed to get any smaller. I remember that industrial antiseptic smell but I daresay it wouldn't suit an oldster's sensitive skin now.

Good old Operation. The game's prototype was invented in 1964 by The University of Illinois industrial-design student John Spinello, who sold his rights to renowned toy designer Marvin Glass for $500 and the promise of a job upon graduation... which was not fulfilled. Initially produced by Milton Bradley in 1965, Operation is currently produced by Hasbro, with an estimated franchise worth $40 million.
