The Overlap 3.0 - Everton Relegation

Okay watched it now.

Baz does seem to be in a bit of a denial about relegation. Shaking his head that Watford or Burnley could get out of it.
I like Toffee TV. They play up to it all now but so does every other fan channel - nowhere near Arsenal Fan TV mind but fair play to any one who puts their head above the parapet and I enjoy Everton content by Evertonians because it's normally genuine and unbiased and 9 times out of 10 the likes of Sky etc haven't got a clue what's actually happening at our club.
That said, Baz does seem to have this romantic notion that we are much better than we are and we have a right to beat any side at Goodison. Those days are long gone and with 3 quarters of the season played, we are where we deserve to be and I've seen nothing to suggest these players have it in them to suddenly go on a winning spree.
I don't agree with Neville about Hodgson or Dyche having an edge over Lampard but I do think the fact their players have previous with relegation fights does go in their favour.
We have better players on paper but they're all bottle jobs the moment something goes wrong. Burnely are poor but they'll give 100% every game. Hard work beats talent and all that.

The gobber makes a good point about the recruitment there, attitude as important as talent and we have not recruited players that fit the club ethos, mainly shrinking violets.

Worrying takeaway for me was just how up in the air the relegation fight is. Neville thinking Watty have a chance, Leeds reinvigorated by Marsh and with a good togetherness, Burnley with the nouse. No-one mentioning Brentford but can see them getting dragged in, their run in are either top four teams or those in the mixer with us, and they only beat mid table teams with nothing to play for atm.

Would be dead exciting if we weren't in it. Whilst Baz makes a good point that our games in hand are all at home, we are playing dog home and away at the mo so see pretty much every home game as 50/50. We REALLY need a confidence boosting performance from somewhere, a solid 3-0 win against half decent opposition will make all the difference, scratchy crowd-roaring 1 nillers do nothing for us in the run in unless we put two together on the trot

I don't like Toffee TV much but I don't mind Baz, represents Everton well there - right amount of humility and self depreciation but also some good points in there aswell.

Imagine being a spurs fan and having that absolute pot represent you. Bin

baz stating that our win against newcastle at home is similar to newcastle's win against us at st james park is worrying

newcastle were by far a better side than us at st james park, they battered us that entire 2nd half, hit the post and still comfortably won 3-1

we struggled against newcastle and barely created anything and got a lucky break with 10 men to score the winner

these two games are not comparable at all

You cannot reason with a fundamentalist.

I think he's just being hopeful tbh and I welcome it because I'm trying to be optimistic too

mate we all need that optimism because we aren't getting any of it from the club or players at the moment. For what it's worth I do sort of agree with him. On paper our squad should be more than good enough to get out of this mess and we have to believe they will otherwise what's the point

He's not a bad representative for the fanbase really. Some of the YouTubers are horrendous, arsenal, United and the kopites all have some terrible fan channels.

Staying up is a huge ask and we have to be realistic about that now.

I genuinely believe about 50% of Goodison has that view too sadly. There's so many at the match who seem genuinely confused when we talk about relegation.

I had an arl fella behind me tell me off for trying to get an atmosphere going. When I explained why it's needed, he laughed at the talk of relegation. Then against Wolves had a dope in front ask me "what more do you want??" When we were losing to Wolves with 5 at the back.

There's so many who think we'll simply be ok and can't see the massive iceberg we're heading towards.

I think people need to consider what Fulham did a few years ago to get out of it and also West Brom before that. Teams can go on runs at this time of the season and someone like Watford easily could get out of it

Mate as I’ve said before, I don’t see the reason for any panic. We have games in hand. We are comfortably better than the teams below us and even some ahead of us who I think we will leapfrog come the end of the season.

We’ve come through a tough year of pandemic football, not being able to go the game and the financial implications of that - I think a lot of people are just appreciative of having the chance to go back to the ground this season and don’t want to get drawn into the negativity of nitpicking everything that the club says and does. We have a new stadium around the corner, a lot of people just choosing to see things positively!
