Gotta give a nod here to Anderson's Pies, a local company based only in my province, they make the most outstanding pies, all for around $2-3, the perfect breakfast or lunch when you're on the run. Flakey (but not too flakey) pastry, can't beat their mince and cheese, the dogs bollox.

Say what???

Found a pound bakery in Bury while christmas shopping today. Got about a tenners worth, ratings are as follows

Sausage roll 4/5 Nice, flaky pastry, well seasoned meat. Not quite as nice meat as greggs but 2 massive ones for a quid.

Meat & potato pasty 4.5/5 Nice pastry again, good amount of filling. 2 for a quid. Nicely seasoned.

Steak pasty 3/5 Nice pastry, not bad tasting but I had 2 and found 2 little pieces of meat in both. again 2 for a quid but very underfilled.

Great work sir and thanks for your report.

With all the recent attention the site is getting, this thread has to be brought to the fore.

In summary...

Sayers/pound bakery chilli pasties should be given a Michelin rating.

Tootles should be consumed with ample time to digest.

Everyone has their fav. filling and bakery, post them here with details, prices and an indepth analysis.

PASTIES.... the fodder for the window !!

Just devoured a new addition to the pastie selection at the local supplier...

I would slip this into the Mid-morning thread but Reidy will only move it again.

"The Curry Special". Interesting I know.

Cottage Bakery claimed they had no sausage and bean, and they are now "hard to come by". I pointed to the "baked from fresh" sign above them. Mis-sold, livid.

Okay,
-Fluffy pastry (4/5),
-Minimal grease, just one paper bag handled the shiny screen smudger (4/5),
-Price £1,20 (1/5) i should have 3 for that price, eh Reidy?
-Filling, piping hot, kind of ruined it as i've taken a layer of skin off the inside of my gob, (3/5)

I can't help but feel a Vindaloo Pastie would beat this hands down as the piping hot filling had more temperature than taste.

Overall rating 12/20.
