The Pienaar situation

Ok, then that makes Everton the place old footballers go to end their careers, where players who have shat on us from a great height can return without a raised eyebrow, and where other teams laugh at our ability to lose or sell our best players well under their value & sometimes pay top dollar to return them.

When we have ****ty's money, and things like waste don't bother us, then all well & good. But until then, we are respected in the league for (as much as I hate it) punching above our weight & turning lower grade players into PL stars. If you like a team that bends over & lets Harry have his way, then fair enough.

I don't...'tis all.

Remember barkley has played no football last season due to a double leg break. Remember he is still 18, we don't want another Vaughan or Rodwell situation ( Huge potential and injury prone). I understand why moyes is leaving him in the reserves. I rather him play 90 mins of football for reserves and develop there than play the odd 10 mins every 3 games or so. I can bet next season Barkley would be fighting for Cahill's spot. As for Veillos, i don't know what's going on with him. I hope he either goes out on loan next season or become a regular on the bench for us.

Back to the thread, i hope we sign pienaar and drenthe in the summer. This summer looks to be interesting.

Haha I like it. When you can't be arsed to go through different threads, just respond to two or three in the same thread.

Slowly slowly with Barkley. He was rushed by Stuart Pearce as it was which led to the double leg break.

Barkley will defo be in next season. He may get minutes before May.

But given the double leg break Moyes will be proved right on Barkley's slowly slowly approach.

A midfield with him fellani and interchanges with pienaar and cahill and osman and gibson should more than serve us well. Maybe another should we look for another winger in the summer.

Distin is going to batter you lad with this talk of punching above our weight.

As Distin said:

How can you be punching above your weight when you're in the top half of the league EVERY season.

We're Everton FFS.

Correct Matthew.

Everton aren't we?

He did that in the England under 19's when him and a team mate ran into each other....

I'd like to know what you are basing your '2-3 seasons' on, especially with Donovan who is fit as a fiddle. The reality is that we can't afford young players who are also dead certs. We either have to take a risk on young players, or buy older players who are guaranteed to come in and do a job but as a result won't be long term members of the first eleven.

problem with that is ofcourse is that no one knows whether donavon can handle 38 premier league games +cups and internationals.
the MLS is of a poor standard and consists of less games, and the players have massive summer breaks.
He can do it on 2 month deals, but then again henry and keane looked great on 2 month loans.
Donavon usually plays around 25 leaghue games for galaxy, and has a rest before je joins us on loan and after.

at 30 years of age would be a poor deal, as he has never played 38 games in a season in his career would be a big risk to ask him to start adapting himself now.(unless he is free)

same with pienaar, donovan, howard, hibbert, jags, distin, cahill, neville, osman, , all in their 30's their resale value will be hardly anything in 2 seasons time, and seeing as we have a "sell before you buy policy", how are we going to replace all of these players.

My Auntie in Wallasey scares me more than Distin.

France under 21 international Gueye has been sat on the sidelines how long? training and getting used to the way his team mates play - yet is getting a small run now and still looks out of sorts. Wonder kids that can step up instantly are rare - Rooney Giggs rare!
