The Pienaar situation

i think spurs will try and use pienaar as a bargaining chip. baines imo is what chelsea spurs and arsenal are missing.i can see all 3 of them coming in for him in the summer. spurs could offer pienaar naughton ekotto defoe kranjkar (i doubt they would offer walker who i rate very highly) ... id rather keep baines personnaly.

jags and heitinga i also expect the london clubs to be sniffing round btw.

lastly fellaini , i think every club in the top 10 and any top club in europe with any sense will be after him in the summer. world class players come in all shapes and sizes and for what he does and his role hes one of best ive seen. world class and we are so lucky to have him. having rodwell as backup for when the inevitable happens is good business. id love to see felli here for life.

with pienaar yak and arteta moving on last year this summer will be all about keeping these jewels in our crown (jelavic now added to that list).

The 3 teams you mentioned are all in London, Baines will not move out of the North West - fact.

As for Pienaar, he needs to be our priority this summer but I can see it dragging out until the end of August.

I'd like to know what you are basing your '2-3 seasons' on, especially with Donovan who is fit as a fiddle. The reality is that we can't afford young players who are also dead certs. We either have to take a risk on young players, or buy older players who are guaranteed to come in and do a job but as a result won't be long term members of the first eleven.

Let me rephrase the point into a question...

How long can Cahill, Neville and Distin be considered 1st choices ?

If Donovan was signed for a hefty fee (reportedly 7-10mil) how long could he go on for?

Surely the strategy (which moyes has been very successful with) should be to source young players and integrate them into the side....

"From what I'm aware of, there is already a price agreed for a future transfer involving Steven Pienaar, Everton & Tottenham #thfc"

Distin's got at least another year in him. Age is just a number to him.

Donovan's had a very good career health wise so no reason why he couldn't give us a good three or four years.

Cahill and Neville, as great as they've been for us, need to be squad players but not first choice.

problem with that is ofcourse is that no one knows whether donavon can handle 38 premier league games +cups and internationals.
the MLS is of a poor standard and consists of less games, and the players have massive summer breaks.
He can do it on 2 month deals, but then again henry and keane looked great on 2 month loans.
Donavon usually plays around 25 leaghue games for galaxy, and has a rest before je joins us on loan and after.

at 30 years of age would be a poor deal, as he has never played 38 games in a season in his career would be a big risk to ask him to start adapting himself now.(unless he is free)

same with pienaar, donovan, howard, hibbert, jags, distin, cahill, neville, osman, , all in their 30's their resale value will be hardly anything in 2 seasons time, and seeing as we have a "sell before you buy policy", how are we going to replace all of these players.

Not quite right of late.

I'm not going to touch the "MLS is poor standard" stuff because folks have read my rants, but the 25 league games is not correct considering:
CONCACAF Champions League
Playoffs
US Open Cup games
Club friendlies

MLS now has a 34 game season, and has made breaks for international play.

Add to that his two loan stints with us.

Add to that he plays 2-3 games in 1 week more often than he would with us due to said competitions.

Add to that his international play.

MLS has a 2.5 month break - which isn't quite accurate since a lot of teams are starting pre-season earlier and earlier.

With that said, earlier in his career he had less mileage on his legs due to MLS - so his 30 is not a premier league 30, plus he's a fitness freak. I think this was your point in that you made it a negative in that he might not be used to a 38 game season. From 2008-2010 he pretty much played football non-stop.

He has several years left in him barring a major injury, and the 38 games shouldn't be an issue within reason. Every player (minus Baines) needs a rest every once in awhile.

I'd take him on a three year deal all day long, i think he'll be able to put a shift in at the top level for years, like a Giggs or Scholes. He may not be playing every game for us but every time he does play he makes an impact.

Donovan on the right and Pienaar on the left gets me so excited.

Imagining this:

Jelavic
Dempsey
Pienaar Fellaini Osman Donovan
Baines Heitinga Distin/Jags [insert new RB]
Howard

Makes me want to weep with joy. Wish it would happen. Little bit of an older squad, but with smart younger player rotation when folks get tired, shouldn't be a problem.

Sigh.

I've said it before but i think Donovan will come here next January. One year left on his contract, the MLS know he wants one last shot at the big leagues and if they want any decent money for him they'll have to sell then. Plus it seems blatantly obvious he wants a move, he even calls himself an Everton player on his twitter ffs.

Pienaar and Donovan would be good for 3 seasons each, use that time to find a young right sided player and continue to use Gueye more and more until him and Pienaar are eventually fighting for a place. I think Magaye could be a big player for us as his confidence builds.

We shall see. My LA team utterly punting away their CONCACAF Champions League chance didn't help (and their current form in MLS - Oh god.)

Nike would fap themselves into oblivion if they could get their three Americans onto 1 club team. :P

coming from a team that got 8m for pavlychenko, 10m for crouch and 8m for palcios and wont sell krancjar or dos santos as they cant receive high enough fees, you really think levy will bend over and sell him for a low fee.

but you think they will let pienaar leave just like that, yeah right

Go do some GOT Homework ..

Then come back to Me BIG BOY ...
