It's like we have no imagination or knowledge of the footballing world.

If there's an up and coming manager,
I guarantee Everton have not heard of him.

Fast forward a year or 2 and we'll be in the same position footballing wise, but then Martinez will be available then....

Absolutely agree.

What I simply don't get is this reaction that TFG have ruined any trust immediately and are destroying any hope for the future by appointing Moyes.
They talked about stability and they probably think this brings it. I think their hand has been forced somewhat RE Dyche, all the noises (to use a Dyche expression) were about retaining him and assessing in the summer. If he has come out and said 'I've taken the team as far as i can' then it sounds like he has waved the white flag.

I can understand why they have gone down this route, particularly as making a similar appointment at Roma with Ranieri seems to be working. However, i think we all hoped for better. We are where we are, i'm not going to judge them on this appointment alone.

I'm not arsed as long as manages to keep us up. He's got to be better than Dyche attacking that's for sure. If you look at what he done at West Ham compared to Lopatgi it will hopefully be a step in the right direction.

4th I'll give you as one over Martinez but Bobby has the points total.

Cup finals don't count for squat mate. It's a nice day out for the lads is all you can say when we don't bring a trophy back up north.

Well you’ve got more of a chance of bringing the trophy home if you’re in the final than if you’re not.

Right so you literally dont have a clue what your talking about. Moyes wasnt fired the first time at west ham his contract expired and the went and got Pellegrini who was garbage so they brought moyes back in because they were 17th 1pt above the relegation zone (sound familiar?).

He did more then stabilise us on a budget of £3m he had us constantly challenging for Europe. He went 2 seasons without signing a player and still had us in Europe and in the semi final of a cup.

Everyone calls thise type of trophies pointless till their in them challenging for it. We used to give Liverpool abuse for taking the league cup so seriously.

They were never in contention for relegation though. Moyes put everything into winning the cup so the league form suffers.

Mourinho did it at United with the Europa league cup to get CL football and everyone called him a genius for it and they finished miles outside of the top 4 because of it.

You can criticize if it didn't come off but it did so thats good management.
Oh yeah he wasn't fired, they just didn't offer him a deal after talking about it, makes a huge difference anyway.

The League form suffered so much they were literally around us for half a season, and we were just about relegated.

United lost 5 games in that season they were 6th, and won two domestic cups and the Europa League, very, very much incomparable as far as achievements go - he went there to win things and won things.

No one called it a crap trophy until Moyes/WHam lost one and people on here laughed at them for winning it, bizarrely.

It's good management, yet lack any kind of winning mentality or imagination in the long run and we can try to erase his knife to a gunfight mentality if you so want, whatever floats your boat.

Can we also stop going back to the same managers for the N-th time? Just in general?

Sean Dyche would’ve finished no higher than 15th with the West Ham side Moyes inherited. He certainly wouldn’t have won a trophy and then reached a Europa League semi final.
I mean it’s all hypothetical. Is Moyes a better manager than Dyche? I would say so aye. My initial point was in response to people saying that Moyes played good football. In reality it was very often grim to watch, especially against any team he thought was better than us. Majority of people on here were chuffed when he left.
