Anything more than 6 months is absolutely nuts

If he won’t budge then look elsewhere

He might have shot himself in the foot here
What were you expecting?

I said this yesterday: he's not coming back to be a caretaker.

I think it's a massively conservative, retrograde step to appoint him. It's what Bill Kenwright would have done. And that's what needs to change. But the only possible silver lining for those of us intractably against the return of "good times" is that these new owners might be less likely to stomach too much of Moyes's patented slow starts to seasons or runs of, say, LLDLWDL, which punctuated much of his time with us, that Bill simply had to defend due to lack of ideas and resources.

Moyes is a comptent manager - but not the man to rebuild this club or take it to heights it last experienced 40 years ago. Most of alll, his contract here postpones any real chance of purging the culture of the club - which he helped build under his mentor Bill Kenwright.

"Good times" are rolling again.

Everton, if Moyes comes back

Happy clappers are out in force bringing out the nostalgia of 8th place finishes.

They all conveniently forget we had far, far better players doing the attacking and that Moyes will absolutely be continuing the Dychian philosophy of "Clean sheet first".
We all wanted change and this appointment is least change we’re going to see.

They talked about stability and they probably think this brings it. I think their hand has been forced somewhat RE Dyche, all the noises (to use a Dyche expression) were about retaining him and assessing in the summer. If he has come out and said 'I've taken the team as far as i can' then it sounds like he has waved the white flag.

I can understand why they have gone down this route, particularly as making a similar appointment at Roma with Ranieri seems to be working. However, i think we all hoped for better. We are where we are, i'm not going to judge them on this appointment alone.

Dyche had almost certainly checked out - that's without even believing the stuff about him saying he's taken us as far as he can. It was clear from the performances he had, so we absolutely had to act. This wasn't last season where we weren't good but created plenty of chances but couldn't finish them. An unacceptable drop off this year which had every chance in ending in relegation.

It's obviously a risk, but their hand has been forced. I agree with you about the thought process they appear to be using should we appoint Moyes. It's not a "good" appointment but the strength of criticism they're getting for it is mad IMO.

The reality as I see it is very few, if any, quality managers would want to come to us right now. Others seem to think we're deliberately passing over other more progressive names and picking Moyes above them. They're entitled to that view, but I know which scenario is more likely, and it makes the decision understandable.

It's not this at all. It's crazy that people can't understand that we are having to deal with the market available to us in January when Dyche has put us in a trash position. If this was the summer things would be very different and Moyes wouldn't even be considered.

It seems to be all the time though, sack mid season, he's available get him, he'll do for now, no progression.

No manager since Roberto has lasted longer than two years , ultimately doesn't matter the length of the contract they have the money to get rid whenever it suits them be it 6 months 12 months

I reckon Ndiaye will be great playing for a Moyes side. Apart from that I'm not really too bothered.
Yeah reminds me a bit of Pienaar but I actually think NDiaye is more of a goal threat than Pienaar. Moyes will know how to utilise him. Giving Dyche a flair player is a waste feller has no idea what to do with them.

Kenwright wanted Gary Megson anyway.
