Yeah I'm agreeing, was just adding to what you said.

I think if anything it's a reminder of how much we've been run into the ground and are close to rock bottom.

We'd all do well to remember that part, to be honest. I mean, literally just a couple of months ago we were going back-and-forth about the possibility of administration. And now so many heads are falling off on here just because they're wanting to hire a manager for short/medium-term stability rather than shooting for the moon in the middle of a relegation battle.

We won nothing. A few finishes for European places, wow. That's mediocrity and the football we played was the very definition of mediocre.

Some of the stuff played later in his tenure wasnt bad - probably what got him the Utd job.

The Wham fans didn't like his football though. No doubt if he comes back, that complaint will come back here too.

Always find it hard to tell if it's the manager or the limits of the players they have. At least Moyes did improve our squad and football over the years with little money. Baines, Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill, Coleman, Lescott, Fellaini, Osman, Rooney, Carsley, Gravesen, Yakubu, Jagielka - all played well under him. He also got good performances out of very average players like Bent, Hibbert, Kilbane, Neville, Stubbs.

I don't know if he has what he had back then - if he is worse or better - but he oversaw a very long and stable period that was wrecked by the Mosh era.

Wonder if there will be an option in the contract that he move to a new role within the club when a manager the Friedkins fancy for the future becomes available

Just stating the facts, we did win nothing. The football was mediocre. The league finishes were broadly in line with the wages we payed compared to other clubs. Mediocre.

Just another thought on this, we aren't at the koeman, silva , ancelotti stage where we were trying to kick on...we arepretty much at the bottom of the barrel complete restart...so maybe this makes sense in that context

Good appointment and he will bring stability on and off the pitch. The club needs stability and he will do that. Some of our fans think our players are better than they are and he should motivate these to be better and do better. Hopefully he’s backed in this window cos we seriously need a left back, right winger and a central midfielder who’s got pace, can create and open up play.
