What was the deal with west ham conceding 74 goals last season. Only sheff utd & burnley let in more.
Very unlike moyes.

Ok, but who on earth could they appoint that would do that and is available to sign on January 9th, 2025? I'm not really seeing a lot of those options out there.

I think it's pretty clear that their #1 goal is just to get through this season still in the Premier League and start doing the real work on the rebuilding project in the summer.
As I’ve said, this is why I was one of the few people on here advocating keeping dyche until a couple of weeks ago.

Moyes treated us like crap. He should have been sacked when he took the united job and I stand by the fact it was a small club mentality to allow to manage us after he agreed to take over them.

However, I think he’s the right man for now. So I’ll swallow my pride for the good of the club.

All comes down to the length of the deal for me.

Right at this moment in time it's difficult to get a manager in who is part of a long term plan (something we desperately need). It would be much easier to do that in the summer.

That being the case, Moyes is a reasonable pick as a safe pair of hands to try and steady the ship. In fact he joined us in a very similar situation. If it's until the end of the season, then absolutely fine.

If this ends up being a 2.5 year contract though, then I might cry. He's what, 60ish now? He's not Dyche level, but he's always been a pragmatist and I can't see how he would possibly be part of any coherent long term plan.

I'm a West Ham fan. If you want to know what Moyes could do with money, I give you Kalvin Philips. Maybe thats a bit harsh?! How about then, the half a billion quid he spent at West Ham and left behind the smallest and oldest squad in the premier league. "BUT HE WON YOU A TROPHY!!"

If there was a visual definitition of the phrase 'papering over the cracks, ' I'd offer up that image of Moyes holding the conference trophy. I really hate saying it because we love to joke about being 'champions of Europe' but I don't think there is a premier league side that couldn't have won that trophy that year considering the quality of the opposition in each round and fortunately we got our luck against Fiorentina in the final. Yes, I'm absolutely grateful for it , had a great night but thats it, its done. It doen't mean you stop progressing. It's so tedious to hear other fans, repeating what they hear in the media, and telling us how grateful we should be for a trophy. It doesn't take away from the fact we were on a massive downwards spiral. He very nearly took that side down the same season (think we secured safety in the penultimate week). We were dreadful last season, absolutly woeful, 74 goals conceded. First half of last season, until Christmas we had the most unbelievable luck in games - Iv'e never quite witnessed smash and grabs like what I saw when we beat Spurs and Arsenal away, somehow we were around 6th at Christmas then the luck finally turned and everyone smashed us for the rest of the season. Actually, even your lot got a taste of it when we nicked two late goals at your manor.

The fact that Sullivan went down the cheap route and baffled everyone by recruiting the 'Spanish Moyes' whose strange tactics haven't stopped the rot is neither here nor there and doesn't invalidate what I've said about Moyes. If he used to be a good , solid , defensive manager , well he seems to have lost his touch long ago. Not suprising really, he's yesterday's man. Him, Dyche, Alladyce all dinosaurs and you've had them all, You don't want him again.

I'm actually a bit fed up having to convince other clubs fans how bad we actually have been. I've already seen other clubs fans today ridiculing you lot for letting Dyche go - one comment on youtube "What do West Ham and Everton fans expect?!" . I guess there are so many fans out there that don't really watch other teams games.

Gave you the most successful seasons you've ever had in the premier league...and yous hated him.

Never seen a team want to be Spurs so desperately.

We were a better team than them that year i think. That was a mediocre rs team but we still found a way to blow it.

The first leg game against Fiorentina, that Wigan FA Cup quarter final, that second leg Benfica game that someone just mentioned to me.

How much more evidence do you want exactly? He'll do his usual adequate job which will do for now i suppose.

Boring really is the operative word when it comes to David Moyes.

For any Evertonian under 35, his spell in charge was the best they'll have had supporting this club. The fact you're moaning about us going out of Europe to the likes of Fiorentina says it all - those days seem like a dream compared to now.

The red mark is dragging our last manger who saved us from relegation through the mud. The hiring of Moyes is adding the insult to the injury.
Well no - cos allegedly it was Dyche who told them he had taken them as far as he could

I can appreciate that integrity tbh, appointment of this dinosaur is akin to giving him dyche a contract extension.
