I agree, it could be far far worse than Moyes. He plays better football than Dyche and I'd be very confident we'd move away from the relegation zone. Just seems unimaginative but maybe that's for another time
It is very unimaginative. Unfortunately we are in a position where we need someone to bring stability and keep us in the league. And more importantly won't cost us the earth.

Are there thousands of better managers than Dyche available right now? Because that’s the bigger question. We need someone right now.
Allegri, Fonseca and Terzic are all available right now off the top of my head. Also, if you’re hunting for up-and-comers from lower/foreign leagues then it wouldn’t cost the earth to make someone available right now. Of the few managers on this earth who would be a worse appointment than Dyche, I’m pretty sure they’ve all managed us in the last 10 years.

This is a lot of people’s point, though, Matty.

Moyes over Dyche any day, of course, but there’s thousands of competent football managers in the world. After months and months of supposed planning, TFG couldn’t find ONE appointment more suitable/exciting/inspiring than a fella in his 60s that first managed us 20-odd years ago??

It stinks of desperation and a lack of ambition.

Might well turn out boss but I think there’ll be a lot, me being one, who took the takeover and Dyche’s sacking to be signs of a new era, and are just proper deflated by this same, old, safety first approach.

this is me now mate

expected better thought it would be

new era, new dawn

i feel underwhelmed

but maybe it will work out

the first two all day long

but surely it’s thad they don’t want to come in now

It clearly isn’t no.

They clearly had a number 1 target that they wanted in the up coming summer but things change in football quickly.

They’re not going to get people in a job already so it has to be a manager out of contract & Moyes is the option.

I’m abit surprised we’ve all suddenly forgot how bad we are & there’s people on here thinking we’d be getting Jose hahaha

Absolutely mental how many people have decided we've looked over a load of big names and are rejecting them and going for Moyes as some sort of master plan.

Dyches appalling performance this season meant action had to be taken, and we needed someone in who would improve our chances of survival, on the basis that sticking with a man who had clearly checked out was only heading one way. It's not hard to understand.

As for being underwhelmed by Moyes, yes, it's not an exciting appointment, but for me, it's an understandable one in the here and now, in my view anyway. Thats of course up for debate. And if they give him a 4 year contract, then yes, throw pelters. This is if he even accepts, he could tell us to do one.

But people coming up with a hypothetical scenario that we've looked over a load of "progressive" or more "exciting" names need to give their heads a wobble. We are in an absolute mess, "exciting" names aren't going to come in at immediate notice to a relegation fight in January.

Sorry but they’re all CL level coaches why would they come here? Ancelotti got sold a lie, these guys won’t. Also not many in-work managers want to snake off mid season. Think you’re reaching a bit there mate. Allegri ffs 😂
