Absolutely mental how many people have decided we've looked over a load of big names and are rejecting them and going for Moyes as some sort of master plan.

Dyches appalling performance this season meant action had to be taken, and we needed someone in who would improve our chances of survival, on the basis that sticking with a man who had clearly checked out was only heading one way. It's not hard to understand.

As for being underwhelmed by Moyes, yes, it's not an exciting appointment, but for me, it's an understandable one in the here and now, in my view anyway. Thats of course up for debate. And if they give him a 4 year contract, then yes, throw pelters. This is if he even accepts, he could tell us to do one.

But people coming up with a hypothetical scenario that we've looked over a load of "progressive" or more "exciting" names need to give their heads a wobble. We are in an absolute mess, "exciting" names aren't going to come in at immediate notice to a relegation fight in January.

100%.

Mental if people think it’s anything else.

No - again it pains me but Dave is right, and importantly so is Dyche, he said days ago succession planning is crucial. And this is who they choose? They have abEuropean reach and a global footprint and they choose… David Moyes?
Yes because he’s a safe pair of hands. You don’t start gambling with a half a billion pound football club battling relegation with some young manager from France. There’s a very small pool of managers available now that you can call.

Are there though? It’s only a handful who can mix it in the Premier League.
I can’t wait for this idea to be consigned to the bin.

What makes you so sure of this? This kind of thinking is why Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce and Bryan Robson among others had so many goes at PL management. You do NOT need PL experience to be a good PL manager.

Any wannabe PL manager worth their salt will have studied the league for years and will know what to expect. The last regime killed us with multiple player signings and manager appointments with the desired PL experience and look where it got us. Moyes is a gutless appointment.

But you do have a succession plan - which this isn’t.

I’ve no idea - there is a wealth of young, exciting and talented managers out there in Europe that TFG should have ear marked for future success. Maybe Dyche knew something we didn’t and that they don’t have a clue?
If we weren't so fragile and in such a perilous position I'd be all for it. Right now, would I want to take a punt on some young up and coming manager with this particular squad of players? Hate to have to say it, probably not.
