I've probably been a bit harsh on Moyes.

We should be grateful of the time he wouldn't accept a big money bid, for wantaway Lamine Kone. Remember him?! We wanted him to replace Stones. Thankfully, we got Ashley Williams instead and the rest they say, is history.

Have tbh. I liked Moyes during his time at the club. At the time I was probably one of his biggest advocates on here. In the end it felt as though he overspent his time here for at least five years. Has probably the safest job in world football, except maybe from Wenger at Arsenal.

The 'plucky little Everton, punching above their weight' narrative by the media was something both he and his pal Kenwright were quite happy to adapt. Hitting that glass ceiling, no pressure at all for both that way.

Also the manner in which he left after that 'era' left a lasting sour taste in my mouth. If I remember correctly he actually was still officially employed by Everton, while trying to tap up Bainsey and Fellaini.

Moyes undoubtedly and undeniable is part of our past. And imo he should stay exactly that.

And that will happen again

Yeah.

Technically, Moyes has the same number of relegations as Dyche.

Moyes relegated a team that had been in the Prem for 10 years, at the first time of asking.

Dyche got a team he tookover in Oct I think, promoted same season, who went straight back down.

He all but relegated them the other year, but he was sacked with them in 18th, 4 points from safety with 20% of the season/8 games to go. So technically, it's 1 relegation each.

The Sunderland side Moyes took over was an even bigger skip fire than the one Dyche took over, or indeed has left here. They had just come off the back of having to be saved in consecutive seasons by Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet, Guus Hiddink and Sam Allardyce. So if we’re absolving Dyche of blame for the Burnley relegations then we must do the same with Moyes I’m afraid.

Any manager relegates that Sunderland side they were absolutely atrocious & a basket case of a football club.

It was an awful move to take that job.

Wouldn't disagree - generally theres teams that'll go down no matter the manager. I think it's true in both Dyche at Burnley and Moyes at Sunderland's relegation seasons.

No one care what you think tbh.

He is going to be appointed with 48 hours at which point your pointless hate fuelled agenda will have run its course.

Yeah I get it, I advocated keeping dyche for as long as I could and I was a big supporter of Moyes the first time round. I just think this is a bit of a problem for us now, even if it’s actually a sensible appointment if that makes any sense.

I think that's the nuance that makes perfect sense really. There's going to be a lot of big takes, in all directions which is totally fair enough, but people may be happier if they try to avoid that.

Like myself I can't square a contradiction on it. On the one hand I think it's an underwhelming appointment and not really a statement at all about how we should want to move forwards.

However what's also true is that I think we are in a bigger mess than maybe a lot of people realise and it was why I was a lot less critical of Dyche. So trying to totally revamp everything mid season would also be a risk.

Those two things are essentially both contradictions, and in truth I'm not quite sure how they are squared.

That's before you even get to the very different ways people interpret his reign and how he left, and how this will undoubtedly be refracted through how his results are treated.

And let's be fair, I can say this as a big Moyes fan, his comments often rubbed people up the wrong way back then. So I can only imagine how a section are going to find the likely things he's going to be saying now.
