Funny enough they do.

Different ways, different levels.

Arsenal brought Arteta back, he played for them.
Liverpool brought Daglish back. (Levels eh, sacked him after reaching two cup finals and winning the League cup).
Chelsea brought back Mourinho.
Man Utd brought back Solskjaer.
West Ham brought back, erm, Moyes.

That's just a little list off the top of my head.
Newcastle brought back Shearer
Newcastle brought back Keegan

Probably others as well

The return of the king?

Ask West Ham fans how they felt about him.
Why bother? They feel exactly how we felt about him. He took over both clubs in a dire state and turned them into consistent challengers for European football. Literally their best manager for the past 50 years and ours since Kendall.

He's ultimately limited when it comes to the upper echelons, frustratingly cautious against the better teams and capable of going on bad runs.

He's a victim of his own success really. West Ham got cocky and thought they deserved better, just like we all took for granted finishing 5th, 6th and 7th regularly.

I'm not sure there's a more underappreciated manager out there.

LOL

I haven't read anything by him for about 14 years and he still detests Moyes.

Christ.

Sorry for sharing from another site, just made me chuckle.
‘and other vile thoughts’. Please share😆.

It was a difficult appointment tbh. Dyche had made his position untenable so had to go.

A progressive manager would be asking too much of this side mid season.
A left field appointment could well see us relegated.
We aren’t an entirely attractive proposition just now either.

I can see the logic of Moyes.

Nostalgia has me thinking it's a good move and that he'll do really well. Worried nostalgia is clouding what could in fact be a bad move though. Needs to hit the ground running against Villa.

We'll be stuck with David Moyes for at least another year in the summer. Unless we've been relegated.
We don’t have to keep him until the end of his contract.

Indeed, it may well have been discussed that he’s only there for 6 months and he wants the pay-off.

It’s exactly the deal we had with Allardyce.

Look, I understand he’s not the dream appointment. But we were never going to get our man in a hurry mid-season.

Given that, I can live with this marriage of convenience. Sometimes pragmatism is the right choice.
