I’m in the same boat, in my 30s and Moyes was the ONLY consistent manager we had. Martinez had that great season in 2012 but faded away badly. People against the idea, what are the alternatives? Moyes understands and gets Everton. Hope we back him in the transfer market and we can build this club.Maybe it’s because I’m 27 and my best footballing memories were watching us under Moyes but I’ve been so shocked at the negative reaction to his appointment. He’s 10x the manager Dyche is and actually gives a toss about the club which is a big positive in the position we’re in. Genuinely think going full circle could be what helps us turn a corner and have a brighter future ahead.
I appreciate that but a lot of that was down to financial restrictions. If Moyes had been able to spend on a player of a similar standard to Lukaku, we'd have finshed in the top 4 a few more times in my opinion and probably won a trophy. But he never had that luxury and he was always at a disadvantage compared to the other clubs challenging for the top 6 apart from (to my memory) Martin O'Neill's Villa who we would come one place higher than if I remember it rightly.I think it’s more accurate to say he capped expectations.
We were trash before he came, and he improved us massively. But he took us as far as he could and marketed that as the best it was possible to achieve at Everton.

That doesn't stand up when he was losing cup quarter finals to Reading and Wigan at home.I appreciate that but a lot of that was down to financial restrictions. He constantly talked us down. He was the main reason Kenwright was able to con so many in the media, and even in the fan base, that "best of the rest" was all we could hope for, for so long. When the Premier League started we were one of the big beasts, between Kenwright and Moyes we became mice. He was a symptom, I'll grant you, Kenwright was the disease, but Moyes was a willing participant in turning us from one of the great clubs of English football to an irrelevance.Exactly. That’s why I don’t get why the knife to a gunfight comment boiled so many fans’ P155. It wasn’t meant to belittle the club, it was a way of pointing out the difference in finances available to build a team from compared to the top teams, and it was a bit of psychological gamesmanship against the opposition - set us up a David vs Goliath so the weight of expectation is on them not us, taking pressure off our players and heaping it on theirs. It wasn’t saying we are a small club, it was saying that based on several previous years of poor performance, and with a limited budget to work with, we simply didn’t have the ability to assemble an expensive star-studded team of recognised top internationals like others could. Obviously didn’t go down well with the fans but it was the reality of the club at the time, we were fishing (very successfully) for gems from lower divisions or from abroad, not splashing millions on superstars. And although us fans remembered better days in the mid to late 80s the fact is the club had taken a nosedive for a while, seen a brief resurgence under Royle, then nosedived to mediocrity and worse before Moyes came along. He transformed us into a cohesive and for the most part, competitive team. One that fought hard every game and actually entertained us again after the dreariness of the Walter Smith years. Is he the right man for us now? In an ideal world no, but in the precarious position we find ourselves in, and the need to bin-off Dyche now rather than in the summer forcing our hand, he’s probably a safer gamble than many other shouts. I just hope those fans who were against his return can bury the hatchett and get behind him and the team for the rest of the season.

You can say he couldn't compete in the league financially, but when opportunity knocked in the cup, he found a way to lose.

He tried to run that game at Man Utd and quickly found out it wouldn't fly. He'll be managing expectations from day one on his return. He will never demand more from the ownership. He's a company man. He works for them, not for us.
Yes. Managers work for the club (owners). Moyes is not exclusive in this. He wasn’t born an Evertonian. What other manager that we could bring in would be any different other than one of the ex-players maybe? He constantly talked us down. Our small club mentality?!Wtf you on about?
We were a joke of a club before moyes came here and weve been a joke of a club since he left. We spent most of the 90s battling relegation and most of the time after moyes.
Moyes gave us our self respect back.
Its the weirdos who are obsessed with hating moyes because he left us and their small club mentality thats making us irrelevant.
Loads of managers push the ownership of a club to strive for better, not for the glory of the club but either because they are just born winners or because they want the glory for themselves. Moyes is a coward. He's perfect for owners with small ambitions.Yes. Managers work for the club (owners). Moyes is not exclusive in this. He wasn’t born an Evertonian.
