The small world of Eddie Howe

Howe Bournemouth equivalent of Moyes for us. Yes he's carved out a nice little job for himself and does a comparatively decent job but the second he walks away from his comfort zone he'll get exposed big time!
Somebody will eventually make him an offer his mrs can live with - Watford??
Then we'll see.

He has took them from bottom of league 2 to being an established Premier League side!

As I said he is obviously a good manager. he has done a ridiculous job for Bournemouth.
He’s not the first manger to take a team up a few divisions. It’s a lot more uncommon these days, because of the high turnover of mangers. As soon as one is doing well in the lower division, he’s snapped up be a bigger team.

That a side, he’s had 5 years and plenty of money and still can’t get Bournemouth any higher. Yet in that time Southampton, Burnley, Wolves, West Ham have all finished top 7. Bournemouth finished top half once, 9th a few years ago. And still can’t stop them leaking goals.

Average manger, who shouldn’t even been on the list of potential new mangers for our club.

What is it? Nine wins for Bournemouth out of their last 33 league games?

He'll do.

I repeat, largely the same team he had in the lower leagues.

Even with that record, STILL has never flirted with relegation.

I didn't say I wanted him as our manager.

I am saying he is obviously a good manager and anyone who cant see how good a job he has done for Bournemouth is being a bit daft. He didn't just take them up a few divisions, he took them up ALL the divisions, he even managed it during two spells which is nice.

Him not being able to take them any higher doesn't negate all the work he has done beforehand.

It's nothing like the same team. Bournemouth have done loads of transfers both in/out during the 5 seasons they have been in the PL. Also nearly 300 goals conceded and only 51 wins is not a great record in 5 seasons tbh, and they have better CB than we do., and they have proper strikers one of which numerous posters on here want us to sign despite the fact he is 8 games without scoring. I live on the south coast and some of the Bournemouth fans are and have been getting bored with Howe for a while because they say there is just no plan with it and he is happy to plod along.

Or..... we could always go for all those trophy winning managers that are just queuing up to manage us.

To be honest mate, I have my concerns about bringing in a manager who is having trouble winning games to replace a manager who is having trouble winning games. Also, I don't want us to fall into the trap of thinking "Well with Everton he'll have money to spend on the players he wants". Then in 18mths time, we end up back where we are now but with a different group of players on high wages. Then again, he may come here and do the business for us. There are no guarantees with whoever we bring in.

Of course, you're right about the 'trophy-winning managers' queuing up to manage us. I doubt a successful manager would want to come anywhere near Everton right now, and I don't blame them.

I think he is a good manager, I think he has done well at Bournemouth, I think he would do well at Everton.

I am not convinced however that he has the fire in his belly to drive any team he manages to achieve more than they should be capable of and that I think is what the great managers do.
I think in many respects it would be a safe, solid appointment but certainly not spectacular, but it certainly will be expensive and I think that, allied to the fact he may not want to leave his club mid season would make this a difficult deal to do.

I was looking at the squad he has gathered at Bournemouth and he certainly has picked up some good players at reasonable prices.
The situation at Bournemouth is a little similar to when Moyes was at Everton. Cash was tight and every signing more or less needed to be a good one.
Howe at Bournemouth had money to spend but not huge amounts and has made some signings of young players where they would struggle to get their money back(Those purchases were from Liverpool mostly... typical). He had to take some risks in the hope that these young players would improve and increase in value.

It's nothing like the same team.

Boruc (joined in the Championship)
Francis (joined in League One)
Cook (joined in League One)
Daniels (joined in League One)
Smith (joined in the Championship)
Surman (joined in the Championship)
Fraser (joined in League One)
Stanislas (joined in the Championship)
King (joined in the Championship)
Wilson (joined in the Championship)

Daniels, Francis, Cook, Smith, Fraser, Wilson and King have all been regular starters for Bournemouth throughout their time in the Prem and still this season.

At least 7 of the aforementioned players comprise their team. And the other regular starters are all young players, most of whom were signed from lower league clubs such as Ramsdale, Stacey, Cook, Kelly, Mepham, Billing and Brooks.

They've done wonders with Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool too.

Youngest squad in the league, young manager, attractive Football. Signs exclusively young players, mostly from the lower leagues. Getting raked over the coles because he hasn't got Championship players into Europe yet.

Madness.
