The Steven Pienaar appreciation thread

Baines makes him look better than he really is. If he doesn't have a pass to Baines and isn't able to work one, then he more often than not picks out the wrong ball and wastes the chance. I bet he's great at 5 a side playing in tight areas with Baines and Osman, but he needs to develop a better relationship with Jelavic. How many times does Jelavic get into a decent area for Pienaar to pick out the wrong option? Does he not like him or something? Pienaar also offers no real goal threat, which for an attacking midfielder is massively lacking.

What was up with that pass right at the start as well? Always a pet hate of mine kick offs. If you have the ball either retain it and build, so your side can settle in to the game or make a strong, positive start by attacking an area of the pitch and trying to set the tone. Don’t just kick it out of play with a sloppy pass by the corner flag, giving the opposition the ball. What a waste.

Personally I think his two best periods as an Everton player were before the World Cup when he thought he was going to get a big move if he had a good World Cup and when he came back on loan and was playing for a permanent move and a big Everton contract. Highly motivated? If Baines goes in the Summer then I think that’ll be the end of Pienaar as an effective Everton player. But then again I do think Baines is that good he could build that relationship with any player who is prepared to give him the ball and cover for him when he goes forward.

Played better last night than he has in recent weeks for sure.

Agree with Summerskin as well, his shot is quite poor so he always bottles it in the box. Even really close in - put your foot through it lad!

He does have some poor shots but I can remember plenty of decent ones and goals as well. He can hit em well, certainly shouldnt' be afraid to.

The goals against Villa (x2) and Aek were crackers, but his shots overall are on par with Osman & Fellaini i.e. shoite.

Up there with Felli v United and Fulham for best performance by a player this season.

So, I fully expect that limp to be confirmed as a three week + lay-off in the next 48 hours.

In all seriousness, he never went down the tunnel, so he should be alright. Please ffs.

would be our luck cant believe how gibbo and kev have picked up so many niggles so far

World class? Wtf? He did well today for the most part, and worked really hard when we didn't have the ball. We're usually a better team with him, but Baines makes him look a better player than he is.

Cmon mate, just because he didn't get a chance at Spurs, he's that overrated it's unbelievable. We'd be lost without him.
