The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Alcaraz can't be blamed for Wigans relegation.

Heitinga is on big money and he didn't contribute enough to justify that. We can't afford to pay 3rd choice centre backs big salaries. We therefore need to move him on, he won't command a big transfer fee either.

Even assuming that Duffy can step up, that makes only 3 central defenders (it would be a lot to ask of Stones at this stage).

If 3 at the back is to be an option, some of the time even, we'll need another CB.

An experienced international center back with PL experience for FREE on less salary than the fella he's replacing is a no brainer.

Solves a problem, brings in a fee and Free's up wages for forwards.

Madness this place.

People moan we cant afford new players due to our wage bill being too high and then slaughter this deal. What do people expect? 10 million players, proven in the premiership on fortunes or just the best young talent in the world to come and sit on our bench?

We sign an international player, experienced in this league, who Martinez has worked with for many years and knows inside out. In all honesty, he's probably 4th or 5th choice behind Jags, Distin, Duffy (another top class young centre back) and Stones (another top class young centre back who Martinez has previously tried to sign) and if he did manage to over take them and move up the order I'd be made up as it shows he's doing something right. He will be costing between 10 & 15k a week and it allows us to release one of our biggest earners who's been a drain on resources all year and free up a wage for a more high profile player in a position we really need it.

Are people really moaning about this deal? I realise it's not the exciting signing everyone was hoping for but surely it's a good deal for the club and I am sure the bigger names will follow.

Nailed it there really.

Furious with the Daily Mirror and this Alcaraz story. He's so badly crap though.

If we are getting a Paraguayan can we have Jose Luis Chilavert please?

Its a waste of wages, we need a centre half to come in and play in Distins position then allowing Distin and Duffy to be subs. We need to improve our first 11 allowing our current first 11 players to be the squad players.

Distin is still good enough for next season, he a beast for us tho. Would rather spend money on a striker.

Surely Heitinga is the bigger waste of wages though.

At least there's achance he might be good next season. He was the one before last so there is hope!

It's very rare I won't want Everton signing a player with a Z in their name. But not this.

I'd say there's a bigger chance he'll cost us games again by getting humiliated whenever he comes up against a striker bigger or faster than him. Which is basically all of them. At least Alcaraz/Duffy wouldn't get bullied.

First of all, he won't be 4th or 5th choice since Johnny is leaving. He will be 3rd choice CB.

Second, on what ground that make you think he will be on 15k a week?

I am slightly disappointed with this signing especially he could be Martinez's first signing. I think we need a replacement for Distin not another aging squad player.

Yeah Mucha did well against City IMO. Shame he's gone really.

I've seen numerous posts on here along the lines of "Oh no Mucha is in goal for the league cup game against xyz" and then posts after each game saying how shaky he was. It is amazing how one good game can turn around everyone's perception!

Not sure we will get someone decent to come to challenge Howard. Replace him yes, or clearly understudy him yes (either young up and coming lad, or pensioner like Shay Given). Look what happened with Spurs last season when Lloris was bench warming behind Friedel....rumours in the press of unrest, crisis meetings etc. Don't think we need that sort of drama.
