Neither! Bent, Kone and Alcaraz are all 30 or about to turn 30. Any chance of signing one or two youngsters?

We have an ageing squad as it is, lets not add to the problem.

I bet there's hardly anyone here knows what Alacarex plays like. He's 30 and plays for Wigan. That's the basis for complaint. Well, he's the same age as Jagielka and used to play for Brugges...if that helps.

Bent still has a good goalscoring record (apart from last season where he basically got frozen out) I think he could do a job for us and its a realistic signing. Who would you want instead?

This reminds me of when we signed Distin! Everyone saying he was too old, waste of money, cart horse etc.

If this happens hopefully we can all be proven wrong again. I'd like to think that Martinez would have a good idea of how good his own players were so I trust him if this does happen.

Can he be any worse than Johnny '****house' Heitinga was last season? I doubt it & he'll be considerably cheaper in terms of wage, plus he's free & we'll get some sort of fee, for the faux hardman.

I rated Distin as a good defender, but he has turned out to be better than expected.

I don't rate Alcaraz, the majority of the times I have seen him in the past he has bad positional play creating attacking opportunities against Wigan. I really don't want him, and it says something when the Wigan fans are more upset by the thought of losing Emerson Boyce.
