The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

If we've got nothing left in the pot and we're down to loans then I think Barry would be a decent signing. It's a world cup year so he'll be out to impress and he's got good quality. I think he'd improve us.

i think fellaini is pretty box-to-box myself, just doesn't do it dynamically like yaya toure e.g.

i agree with only needing one anchor and i think that's what we play, but then still, we only have fellaini and osman for the two centre mid spots and no real first team backup. if we got a good winger in one day i would be intruiged to see how pienaar could play in that position. guess he'd get bullied a bit, but then again, leon britton doesn't so it's no formallity.

The trouble with Fellaini is that he's got no turn of pace. He couldn't drive forward with the ball and burst past people.

It suits us to have quite a small, tight-knit squad where people can play a variety of positions and they get regular game time so that they're happy. Heitinga hasn't really impressed in midfield before but against Real Martinez experimented with him sweeping in front of the back four. This could be something that he tries again. I've liked the look of Junior when I've seen him too and I think he's been unlucky not to have been in the squad more often. We can definitely adapt.

I think that our priority is to find creativity in the middle of the park to knit it all together. If we bring someone in there it could push other people into deeper positions too.

Hes on the downswing absolutely. He will be good at taking the ball off the defence and playing it simple. He will do as an option for the right fee etc.

The last ageing bloke we signed from Manchester City did pretty well for us...

If we had young, quick players around him to do the leg work I wouldn't object so much. But the ones we've got aren't that mobile and I think we'd get stretched too easily.

I think we need to make sure Fellaini is able to get up the pitch and into the box so as to get on the end of crosses, knock downs, garbage goals, ect. I fear we need this to get enough goal scoring. I don't want to see him playing too deep or being too worried about breaking up counters and protecting our back 3/4. I think we need someone else for that (Gibson when healthy).

Who was it again?

Barry would be a good loan signing for just some portion of his wages. It's utterly pointless throwing out names of players who would be better and cost "only" 5m or whatever -- we just don't have it. It provides cover at a position where we are sorely lacking that.

One for the rumours.
