Not sure if this has been posted...
Veteran Spanish midfielder David Albelda has parted company with Valencia after 15 years at the club.

It is uncertain whether the 35-year-old will carry on playing, but he is thought to be interesting Everton manager Roberto Martinez now he is a free agent.

Albelda didn't feature in new Valencia boss Mirolslav Dukic's plans, so decided the time was right to move on.

"I would like to thank Valencia for the marvellous years I have had and wish them all the best for the future," Albelda wrote on his Twitter account.

"I also want to thank all supporters who showed me such great support throughout my career. Amunt Valencia!"

The club were also quick to thank the midfield for his loyalty to the club, and wished him all the best for the future.

"After 574 games, 42502 minutes on the pitch and 15 seasons, David Albelda's time at Valencia has come to a close," a club statement read.

"The club legend will not be renewing his deal with the club, leaving behind a glittering career in black and white."

It's from Sky, who are usually spot on.

i wouldn't even buy a 35 year old keeper, never mind midfielder.

with regards to the targets mentioned so far,

if we brought in alcaraz for heitinga, mccarthy in goal, fer, moses and bent i'd be happy (although not anything too exciting)

sadly i don't see us splashing that kind of money, but we need to replace mucha, neville, hitz and hopefully heitinga as well as adding 2/3 more.

striker needs to be a priority though.

can lids stop bashing on at martinez because they read about a paper rumour of someone they don't like - think sensibly. Also can someone explain to me the obsession with buying players with sell on value? i know we sell to operate but still, not every single signing has to be sold eventually.

Albelda as a player/coach would be a good idea in my opinion, emphasis on the coach of course. He's got a wealth of experience and is still fit as a fiddle.
