I concur.

I'd be fairly pleased if we signed McCarthy. Only 22 as well, I didn't think he was so young.
I'm only messing on the McCarthy front, he is quite good but I'd prefer to spend the money we'd have to on him, on a continental option. There is better out there especially in Spanish league.

When was the last time a manager of Everton bought more than 1 player from one single club in a transfer window? And now we hear this pathetic call of signing up these relegated Wigan players (how many? 3 or 4?) in one transfer window!? Are Wigan suddenly becoming Man Utd or Real Madrid? God no! Martinez needs to look for better players to work with now as he has far more resources. He ain't managing a yoyo club like the mighty Wigan. Have some ambition for christ sake and I hope these papertalks are lies.

You should ring Martinez tonight and tell him he is making a big mistake, tell him there are other clubs than wigan out there. Quick no time to waste.

DON'T YOU START LID LAD LAR

I DON'T THINK HE'S ANYTHING SPECIAL MATE JUST A DECENT PLAYER YANO MATE.

I still think he's a decent player with good potential. If Martinez is going to bring someone with him from Wigan to address our squad's deficiencies then McCarthy at CM wouldn't be the worst signing.

Look.

I'll make it simple.

McCarthy is a player your West Hams, West Broms would go for he's bang average.

BUT he'd cost £10m+.

Are people seriously telling me they want him over a cheaper and better Mirallas type signing?!

Because if so I might have to give up.

I'd think Martinez would be stupid to go back to his old club for players aside from those who will become free, Figueroa I'd like definitely. McCarthy would be useful, but he is too expensive to be just useful.
I'd prefer my midfielders to buy horses for their girlfriends, not foreseeing the complications of her living in a flat would cause.

Obviously this article is for someone who want us to 3 or 4 Wigan players in this window. And if that include you then fine, you are entitled to your opinion.

Aww heyl naaww.

For me, Mirallas is up there with Michu and co. as one of the best value for money signings this year, it's relatively rare a player that cheap turns out so good.

If McCarthy was available for something like £6m or less then I'd be alright with that. £10m would be too much though. I do believe though that he will be playing for one of the top 6 clubs at some point in his career, he just maybe isn't ready for Everton just yet.

We need someone in cm tho, to take over Osman who getting on and Gibson who injured a couple of times a season, James would be a great addition.

I suppose with our limited funds and his knowledge of the squad he left behind though he's probably got a good idea of who he could bring in and for what price, and what kind of impact he'd expect them to make. I'm fairly sure he'll bring in at least one player from Wigan.

Figueroa I quite like actually, but he'd be a backup player and maybe he wouldn't want that.

But yes I'd still love to have Fer although I've never seen him play ever.

I agree. We need another midfielder.

But not him. Leroy Fer is a better player for example.

I actually would prefer a creative type than a Fer though if I'm honest.

*waits for someone to suggest Jordi Gomez

How many other players can you pick up for £5m with Mirallas ability.

Not many, a one off signing that.

McCarthy is a very tidy player and I would love him here but the honestly the price tag is more a risk than reward scenario for me we cant gamble £10mil on him

I think Figueroa could be turned into a CB myself, slowly ease Distin out...
