The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Can someone help explain/confirm the homegrown status for this noob? I understand each team must have at least 8 "homegrown"/English players on the roster, and TW shows that Everton currently have 5 (actually 6, but Neville's not returning.)

Assuming I understand correctly that Everton need 3 (Americans can do math too, even without that pesky Brit s), who do you expect the team to add in the window? (Aside from Rooney, of course).

Premier League Clubs continue to produce top home-grown talent, the 20 Clubs introduced a Home Grown Player rule from the start of the 2010/11 campaign. Clubs cannot name more than 17 non home grown players aged over 21. For example some clubs will have a squad list of 23 because they may have 17 over 21 non home grown players.

Young keeper as back up, George Long from Sheffield Utd. Will be in goal for the England under 20's in the world cup. Looks a good prospect.

you still happy with howard as number 1? i know a lot are, i just really have no confidence in him whatsoever any more. he's been one of the poorest keeper's in the league last 2 years. did much better after mucha was harshly dropped, but his performance last game summed up his season, especially that first goal.

if we're going to challenge for top 4, i really don't think he's good enough

back up or genuine competition? I don't know much outside the prem. as long as it doesn't cost too much I would be looking to be putting real pressure on Howard after early performances last year

Both Joel an Assenjo only have 1 year contract remaining. Joel looked good in a poor Wigan team. Saying that, don't the Spanish have mad release clauses?

The simple answer really is that we wont be challenging for top 4.

Arsenal have been getting top 4 for years now with a **** GK.

IMO Howard is a good Gk, Not quality but certainly not poor. He saves us as many points as his mistakes may cost us. Which again makes him a good keeper. Plenty worse in the league.

However the time has come to be finding his eventual successor and someone who can immediately keep him on his toes. I do feel we missed a opportunity not signing Butland. The English keeper playing for Celtic could be a option dependant on price...but tbh I know very little when it comes to GK's.
