The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Why the sarcasm?

Low budget transfers 101.. Most people know that if you don't have any wedge, you don't use a major tournament to scout players for reasons i've already posted here:

http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/t...-for-ESPN-s-Confederations-Cup-coverage/page6

When people see a quality goal and say that'll put a few mil on his value... its true.. That is not good if your buying with virtually no money.
Because I don't think he'll be scouting like he's on football manager, because he is far more qualified than that. He won't just sign whoever scores goal of the tournament for an inflated fee (regardless we couldn't afford such a player). I see what you're saying but we differ on the assumption that Martinez doesn't know what he's doing.

like has been said Forster would be a decent keeper, would of loved mignelot but the ****e have got him begovic would be good but would cost too much

Would be a decent shout to take over from Howard in the future. Sure i read a bit ago that he wants a move to prem in the near future to aid his international chances?!.

Let him keep on getting games at Celtic next season and CL experience and then when his deal is run down another year, get him cheapish to take over Howard next season!.

Forster is a big guy, but the only time I saw him play was when he was on loan away from Newcastle. He looked good. I'm afraid his value may be inflated by his age and his being called into the England camp.

Also, he looks like the lovechild of Gerrard and Rooney:

I'm sticking by it in the hope that official people stalk this forum-
a top top option to come in as goalie would be Khune from Kaizer Chiefs. Top class goalie and would be super cheap.

Yeah but still.. why the sarcasm? I said nothing unreasonable did I?

A player doesn't have to score goal of the season, You will pay extra for any good games that player has. That is fact. That is how it always has been and always will be.

Its also not that informative, the only thing you learn from a tournament is how good a player is during that tournament or perhaps how fast they can run. Would you buy Rooney based on his England performances? Or Baines for that matter?

Commentators of these events frequently point out that a players just added to his value after a good game. Its the nature of the beast and the most expensive time to buy players.

I hope he would use our scouts over a one off tournament, after all they have very good form for getting things right. If he is scouting out there, I would hope its either players he has been following or recommend by our guys rather than seeing who catches the eye and going for them. The only other use would be future scouting options for next season.

If he's scouting for players for this summer I would consider that the bad news scenario that I didn't want to hear.

Why do you think Martinez doesn't know what he's doing by the way?

Obviously being in Australia, don't get much transfer talk, apart from here and a few websites.
Would we be interested looking at Darren Bent or Gary Hooper???
I have a feeling Bent would probably be pricey, but surely he'd still knock in goals?
Don't know much about Hooper, is he good enough for the Prem??

I would take Darren Bent, doubt he would cost loads either, hes being wasted at Villa, he scores goals, havent seen this Hooper fella, but hes not cheap and scoring goals in Scotland isnt the best yard stick.
