The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

I think many have taken leave of their senses with all the talk about whopping great transfer budgets. That isn't the case. We're the same old organisation as we have been for a decade: living from hand to mouth. We sell to buy and the players the manager gets in wont be based on some astronomical transfer kitty that Moyes never enjoyed. If he's getting in Kone or another of that class instead of your flavour of the day £20Mrated players, it's because he has to.

Get real.

"It,s a global mkt" his words not mine....spending 10m on average players like Kone and the other soft lad is money down the drain.

Dries who?

Oh you mean Mertens. There are better options out there.

These two.

FTY, we need to replace him at DM even if he'd stay and play CAM which I hope he doesn't and I hope we stop hoofing it out to him. One of the main reasons for our poor fortunes at the second part of the season was that Moyes noticed we were leaking weak goals (mostly because of Howard tbh) at the start of the season and his solution has always been to move the ball away from our side of the pitch as fast as he can (it's statistically proven to limit the opposition's goal scoring chances) but that also meant that with Howard not able to distribute balls to his own players and with Fellaini playing his back to the goal our attacks have slowed down consiredable allowing the opposition to regroup in defence. Then we've just tried to spray the balls in from the wings with Felli and Jela going for the same high balls and we've not had balls fed to Jelavics feet which are his main slotting tools. Our midfield has also been poor at winning bals back without Fellaini with our best pairing being Osman and Gibson who aren't really what I'd call ball winners. So we need so steel that up with a replacement for the role where Fellaini was doing good. At front, we need to replace him with someone who'd actually help us play better football and not this weird-ass Moyes let's play everyone out of position so that while our own footy is **** it also makes the opposition's game poor as well so let's roll the dice and see if we can get a point out of the mighty Reading.

Let's get the DM and CAM roles sorted and maybe we can play some sexy football that gets us results.

Fellaini is a DM. Just because he played further up a lot last season doesn't mean he SHOULD play there, he scored a lot of important goals but I feel he could do that from a deeper position while also bossing around like he does.

I think our squad needs 4 players realistically.

A replacement for Heitinga who takes half his wages.
Bony. He would fit so perfectly in our team.
Rafinha on loan.
Redmond.

Bringing in these 4 would be realistic, the likes of Neville leaving would have freed up a lot of wages and I think we've got some money from January. Personally I don't think we need to bring in any other CM's, Barkley can now get game time although if Martinez doesn't think he's ready then adding Fer would be perfect (funded with getting rid of the likes of Gueye).

SMURF HAS SPOKEN!

ps. loved the part "slotting tools"
ps2. good writing, seriously

He grafts more than most forwards in the league though. His performances against some of the leading lights in the league in one of the poorer teams suggests he wouldn't be bad for us. Our problem was creating so many chances that weren't being put away by wasteful strikers.

True but I am not impressed by him the way people are banging on about him you would think he finished top goal scorer or something. If we get rid of jelly and bring in two strikers him being one of them being used off the bench then ok but he won't solve our striker problem and 5mill is to much for him as well.

Yakubu scored 22 goals the season Blackburn got relagated and nobody wants him back.

I don't think anybody has gone overboard on him really. He'd be a sensible acquisition if we mean to spend money elsewhere or in addition to another striker. For 5m and a few years service he'd give us a bit more up front and is worth consideration if nothing else.

Lol! £10M (if it is that) for two players at today's ludicrous prices makes him a miracle worker. Kone would be betterr than we have, and McGeady (if that's who you mean) would add an extra bit of attacking flair to the squad (he's not my choice either I have to say, but if he gets him for £4M - job done).

I get the feeling *some* people wont be happy with what Martinez does regardless.

Well ginger deserted us and Pereira was just a money grabber. So hard luck on that score.

Get behind your manager.

Yeah but like I said I would only consider it if we got in two strikers and he was used as back up. I think that the money can be used in better ways I.e. Honda or someone like that.

I also think if we keep jelly he will be better this season after shaking of his fatal second season syndrome.

I didn't want us to sell Yak in the 1st place, would sooner we'd have sent them Saha, and they'd have been relegated much earlier if we had.
