The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Today makes every difference, becuase now he is a free agent and Martinez has just started, the club may have have it odne for a few days but wanted to wait until Martinex was in and can do photo oppurtunities.

Kolo Toure has officially finished his contract with City today, he agreed to sign for Liverpool at the end of May. Becoming a free agent today will not matter at all, he still could have signed in the past month.

To delay a signing due to photo opportunities would be crazy, but hey, it's Everton, we like to cock up stuff. So, it would not surprise if that was the reason

As you say it's Everton mate, A place where Logic and Reason knows no bounds!

It could be any reason though why it's not been announced. Looks a done deal though. Probaly sometime this week. I do wonder why they waited to announce the staff changes until today though.

The way I see it, Martinez will want to sell them both (Baines and Feallaini), keeping them means very little money to spend, he will be working with the current squad and whatever happens people will give credit to Moyes for building the squad.

Selling them both means something around 40 millions, Martinez will use that to build his own team
P.S. Don’t expect him to come out and say that, on the contrary, he will say (already said) he wants to continue Moyes’ work and work with the current squad bla bla bla

I understand what you're saying mate but why does everybody just assume we have very little to spend ?? ok I don't expect us to spend 30 or 40 million but surely Martinez would have been given assurances before he took the job.

It really comes down to how badly Martinez wants to keep Baines and how badly Moyes wants to sign him.
A fee of 18m+ would be very hard to turn down for a player in his 29th year.

However, in the last three or four transfer windows LCAB has been totally wrong far more than he has been right.
Even if he has knowledge inside Everton, how does he now know what Utd are prepared to pay unless his contact is Moyes.

I still think this is very much up in the air,it's full of uncertainties.

We know Moyes wants the player but we don't know what he will pay, we know Martinez wants to keep the player, but we don't know haow badly he wants to keep him .
Of course a possible sale of Fellaini further complicates the issue,if Fellaini were sold today I think the sale of Baines at any price becomes less likely.

I really don't understand why, at the present time, people should be worrying about incoming transfer fees going towards the repayment of debt. Our repayments are made on time, and we are under no great pressure, in fact as far as I can see, no pressure at all, to repay anything at a greater rate than has already been agreed by the financial institutions. I think that when discussing what we might have to spend, and no one except the board and the manager will know this figure, it is important to factor in the saving of wages and wages to be paid to new players. I wouldn't worry about 'paying off debt'..we're doing that as it is.

VIBRAC loan due this summer 15m

You realise that is a yearly revolving loan which simply gets paid and then subsequently re-opened for another term?

It's a rather clever way for shareholders to pay themselves :(

Cone,Mc Geadey,Alcaraz will be first 3 signings,2deals already agreed,

More like clever accounting by the club to ensure that theres a 'new' £15 million every year. I think you'll find that a lot of clubs have similar deals. Its in the summer that we require the money...no gate revenue, transfers, etc, so we borrow and repay over the season, when our revenue is greatest. Got it?
