The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

The most underwhelming Summer so far that I can personally remember and there's been a few.

Certainly not helped by run of the mill clubs and newly promoted clubs signing some very good players.

Cardiff have got a gem in Cornelius. I've been banging the drum about this kid for months.

Similar to Benteke last summer, brought for 7.5 this summer, and I'll bet this time next year he'll be rated in the 15+ million bracket.

Norwich signing talent too in Redmond and particularly, Van Wolfswinkel.

Carrol might not be everones cup of tea, but even West ham are showing ambition by signing 15 million players.

Us? The only talk is of Kone and Alcaraz and Baines and Fellaini possibly leaving.

I seriously hope NONE of that comes to fruition and Martinez surprises us with what looks like exciting additions.

More like clever accounting by the club to ensure that theres a 'new' £15 million every year. I think you'll find that a lot of clubs have similar deals. Its in the summer that we require the money...no gate revenue, transfers, etc, so we borrow and repay over the season, when our revenue is greatest. Got it?

Sorry steve but that's certainly not how I see it at all.

If that was the case then the interest would be far lower as well as the actual entity facilitating the loan would not be in an offshore location well known for its ability to hide 3rd party 'comms/payments'.

A 'friend' of the club wouldn't charge such interest merely for a loan....and a club certainly wouldn't accept such high interest either unless 'something was afoot'.

I think you're logic while on the surface quite reasonable is a bit off base. If it was the case then the club would be gradually lowering the loan rather than keeping it at the same amount on same interest.

But I thought they never took any money out of the business, Bill said so last week.

They don't. See above. If they did, it would show somewhere in the accounts. If youre really looking at a way for money coming to the club in an odd way...think on this....Phil Green has for years invested in Bills theatre shows(allegedly) and Bills shows have been pretty successful over the years...(a few years ago a senior exec at One Nation(Palace and Opera House Manchester, etc) told me that without Bill Kenwright big theatres in the provinces would be closed half the year) this would mean some big dividends to PG ...not in terms of HIS wealth,he probably invests for fun and because Bill is his best mate, but certainly useful money. I'm not suggesting anything untoward, but I am surprised that none of the usual suspects, who become master accountants and top fraud squad investigators the minute they switch on their PC, have not come up with one of their fantasy conspiracy theories. They have left no stone unturned in the eternal quest to be negative about BK, apart from this one.

Mate, Martinez will want to put his stamp on things. He absolutely has to sign one or two players to fit into his 'philosophy' and mould the team to suit his needs.

1-- Take out loan with offshore entity.

2-- Markup the interest

3 -- Repay loan with interest

4-- Where does the markup go?

How does anyone follow (4) onwards?

I can set this up for you if you like, not difficult. You can actually take out an additional credit line with a bank on 80% of the 'loaned' money as well and offer that as a loan to someone else....until the cycle closes....like one of those russian dolls.

Quite funny really.

Thats fair enough...but it is known that the banks have tightened up on new loans to football clubs..they are running a bit scared because of lets face it, so many clubs are in very serious difficulties(I don't believe that we are). This being the case the money has to come from somewhere...and isn't true that our debts to the banks have reduced, and that it is the banks who are more likely to get difficult again if the recession-like economy takes another hit? The British Virgin Islands is known to be the hq for many off shore funds, and Everton would prove to be not the only club involved with afund in that area, if the truth were known.Common practices, like offshore borrowing, and sell and lease back(Finch Farm) are seen as negatives if they involve Everton, but normal practice if they involve another business.

Youre not suggesting Everton are loan sharks now? Perhaps its the way forward?

Nail on head -- they 'could' actually do that via an Everton loan system to loyal fans haha

More realistically though, they could easily find a more beneficial loan scheme for the club. We can put it down to either;

A-- Cluelessness (no chance)

B-- A way to pay people comms (likely)

I can't think of any other logical explanation.

Incidently, banks are falling over themselves to provide loans to anyone here in Asia...not sure what the scene is over there now but here 6 months salary on a credit card is a signature away + a corporate entity with 1mil or above USD on balance sheet can take some major credit lines (even offshore)so the Vibrac deal looks 'odd'.

Scratch Redmond off.
Has joined Hughton at Norwich.
That Right Wing position is still up for grabs- Naismith breathes easy for another day
