I totally agree, it's a head scratcher for sure and not what I was expecting from Martinez.I genuinely can't believe we're gonna spend £5m on 30-year-old Kone. That is flabbergasting. A club with so little money, spending an absolute fortune on a half-decent player with zero sell-on value and whose only real asset is his pace.
Baffling.
Going to be the biggest anti climax ever.I totally agree, it's a head scratcher for sure and not what I was expecting from Martinez.
It's not easy being an Everton manager and trying to pacify the supporters when the support you get from the board at Everton is pretty much non existent.
That's why I rate David Moyes so highly. The way he turned the club around and got us in to respectable league positions without any kind of real backing was a superb achievement.
With the board we have, any Everton manager MUST be very very shrewd in the transfer market. Moyes clearly was, is Martinez?
that remains to be seen. But making your first signing a 30 year old journeyman striker for 5 million is not a great start is it.
£5m up front? Why are we struggling to pay this? Are we really this poor? It's embarrassing having to spread this over so many months. We definitely will be selling our assets if this is how it's looking. Kone - in. Alcarez - In. Business done. Start the season. We can't expect anything else.
What's all the hate on McGeady about? he is a champ league qual player.
technically...yesand EVERY player in the champs league is super ace?
technically...yes

We're linked with Norway U21 international Stefan Johansen. Is that 'Global Market' enough for you all?!
If those two get brought in, with Heitinga leaving, and hopefully one other signing, then it's not that bad a window.. As long as none of our key players leave.
Oh aye, especially with Arsenal and Spurs about to splash 50m, the ****e spending another 30/40m and the likes of Villa and Newcastle not possibly being anywhere near as bad as they were last season.
Then not forgetting clubs like Cardiff bidding for brilliant players such as Cardozo, Swansea making more astute signings, etc.
But there again, Kone would be great aye.
