A lot of people are saying that he'll get more chances with us than he did at Wigan. There'd be some mileage in that statement, provided that we keep hold of Baines.

Chances, yes. Goals, not so sure. He's only scored more than 11 league goals once in the last 8 years...

Jelavic - some say he'll come good. What if he doesn't?
Anichebe - Hot and cold - mainly cold but hope he keeps the effort up from last year.
Vellios - Seems to have lost it completely - despite being sexy
Naismith - lol

Chances, yes. Goals, not so sure. He's only scored more than 11 league goals once in the last 8 years...

As I said, a decent backup to a more 'prolific' striker. I'm not over-joyed at the prospect, but if we brought him in he'd be a decent back-up to Jelavic/Mirallas etc.

TBH, I'm of the opinion that Jelavic will come good next season. We're sorely lacking upfront though, and with the recent influx of TV money prices are being hiked. £5M won't get you what it used to.

Think you've just outlined the exact argument AGAINST buying him. We've got two strikers of *roughly* the same quality (one of whom - Jelavic - has shown that he CAN be much much better. Whether he regains that, who knows. And the other one seems to be improving)... what's the point in buying another one? If we're going to sign a striker, it needs to be someone who will substantially IMPROVE our strike force - not just add another body to it.

I have real concerns over Jelavic.
And Anichebe is Anichebe.

Kone is decent and suits us I think.

I wonder just how different we will play style wise with Martinez. I guess nobody knows that.

That much is very true. I just think there are bound to be better options out there than a 30 year old who rarely hits double figures in the league.

Anichebe is ****e, let's face it.

Last season we saw a marked improvement, but he's had roughly 7 years of being in and around the first team and that's the first time he's warranted any form of plaudits, Europe aside.

And even then it was very short-lived.

All i'm saying is there are pros and cons to getting him.

i dont understand why everyone is so eager to say 'yeah, he's going to get us 10-15 goals a season for a few years' in regards to Kone. He's been here one season. But a ton of people are saying about Benteke or Michu 'watch them fall off a cliff in their second season'. Whats to say Kone wont have that same issue like Jelavic had? And then thats a fn waste of 5mil..

Because Kone will be playing for us and them others for someone else so the rules are different.
